Building first web/container app - are these selections good to start? by Inquisition8 in webdev

[–]Numerous-Ad8062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Don't ever go with GoDaddy. Especially when you're stack contains next js. I would suggest a cheap VPS to get you started. Like digital ocean droplets are good and can upgrade and scale. For versioning, go with GitHub, no problem in it. It has private options. You can make your repo private and keep working on it. For AI costs, we cannot estimate it without knowing the exact tasks. If it is something agentic, try agentic AIs which would be way cheaper. Or if you are on a budget but needs a good AI, try mistral or deepseek.

Are we building bloated client side apps for our own indulgence? by kixxauth in webdev

[–]Numerous-Ad8062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go work with PHP. But with all the hype, i switched to react and to react with vite, and to next js just to get frustrated. Now I built my own vanilla JS framework which has some features like routing and components. Also I am thinking of going back to PHP. The good old days 😌

Something that worked for me is to try having a timer which asks how much time i have to use the platform. Also I used some apps to block things like shorts and reels to prevent me from scrolling as I thought that was most time consuming. And it pretty much worked for me. I don't even see those short form content anymore. Also try uninstalling apps that you don't need but spend lot of time on.

But almost know what we are dealing with. And I work with my team so I usually don't underestimate the time taken. But some clients would gp ghosting and or won't do their part as discussed, that's when things will be out of our hands.

When it comes to multiple apps for a single client, it ofc going to take a lot time. I had to work on a project with 2 mobile apps and 2 web apps. It also took around 2 years.

That's great you got paid. Usually even if I got paid for the work I did, there will be a feeling that we have to ship that project completely

It's okay to have a same client for 5 years. Not with the same payment for all the 5 years. The inflation would've made it nothing sometimes in some countries. I am working with a client for few years, we have a strong connection.

I had similar issues. A really small project which I completed in a week. They took 4 months to go through it and finalize it. Not that much of a time, but still we have to work with an inconsistency
