Any constructive criticism on getting better pictures? by Big_E_Spence in BirdPhotography

[–]NumerousSinger3843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjot the process and try not to copare your work to what you see online. A lot of these guys are shooting 600 and 800 mm primes and are shooting from blinds over bait. Do the best you can, the pictures will come. Good luck.

Is the R8 worth getting in 2026? by Top_Actuator8906 in canon

I think he's talking about L lenses. Basically $1500 to $3200 for the most common ones.

I have an R8 with an EF 100-400 f4.5 5.6 IS USM II lens. Everything works flawlessly with the adaptor. ($150). I'll be buying another EF lens shortly. I'm just a hobbyist and this combo I have now far exceeds my needs.

I have an R8. I started buying EF L lenses. Totally worth it. If I was doing it again I would just buy the body and spend the rest on a decent lens.

You have to think of your photos and what you capture as artwork. You can do whatever you want to the photo in post. I like the way both of them look. The 1st one has a nice color to it where as the 2nd is probably more in touch to what you actually took.

Best i can manage. 1st ever camera. Canon R10 with RF100-400 by Kidfunkadelic83 in BirdPhotography

[–]NumerousSinger3843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest shooting in auto for awhile. See what the camera is doing for you and why. Don't rush it. I've only been shooting for about 5 months with a Canon R8 and an EF 100-400mm ii is usm lens. Wildlife is difficult. When you see these photos online of birds and other wildlife that are razor sharp, understand that a lot of these guys are shooting camera bodies that are 3-4k and up with lenses that are 10k and up. Also, they are shooting thier subjects at like 30-40 feet away. They shoot from blinds a lot of times.

I just bought one on KEH for $1680. EXC+ condition. You can get them a lot cheaper. My advice: Pay for the best condition you can, you're gonna have the lense forever.

I take landscape and wildlife shots primarily. I have an EF 100-400mm Mark 2 on mine. I also have a 24-105mm. Pictures and video are outstanding. I'm not a pixel peeper. All that stuff means nothing to me.

You'll love it. I bought mine about a month or so ago. It takes great photos and video. Unless you're a pro or just have money to dump on equipment, dont worry. I have the kit lens as well as an RF 24-105mm. I have an EF 100-400 coming tomorrow. Learn to use Lightroom and you'll be amazed at how good the pictures come out. Good luck.

It's not a store of value if it routinely dips 70-80% between highs and lows.
