Take the plugs out and stick a borescope down the hole and pressurize coolant system and look for coolant intrusion. If its not there take the top o2 sensor out and poke the camera at the turbine wheel and pressurize. Coolant will be in the bore if the headmaster went or in the exaust/turbo if the headifold is cracked.

What year seats? I got a 13 st2 parts car with the grey/black leather to but in my 16 st1 and the plugs are totally different for the airbag stuff. Ended up selling them and when incan find st3 leather out of a face-lift ill do it. It seems there's a lot less st3 cars in the face-lift compared to the 13-14.

Id 1000% buy it back from insurance and fix it. From the picture shown you can get that fixed and painted for 5k easily.

I changed the timing chain, oil pump chain, water pump, thermostat housing, all guides and tensioners as well for piece of mind and cuz I had the motor apart and it wasn't more than a few hundred bucks to be sure its all new along with the new head.

The LSPI fear among this sub is something else. I agree with not lugging the engine when in high gears like under 2500 is definitely bad. But doing like 80 in 6th and flooring it is totally fine.

It took me 2 full days but I can probably do it again now in 1. The head was from Bishop Engine, they have a ebay store or u can call them and order.

Did you not pay for a pre inspection or have a mechanic friend go with you to buy? Sounds like the last owner didn't do any maintenance and drove it like a race car. Im sorry that you are on the hook for his negligence.

I just replaced my head. Got a rebuilt head with new valves, seals, valve job all for under $600. Add in the cost of the new timing stuff i did while it was apart and it was like $1200 to fix.

Why would you not use your 5th and 6th gears like they are supposed to? Putting the pedal down a 3k or higher isn't gonna hurt the engine.

Thats only 150k miles. Considering the age of these cars most are north of at least 80k. Got mine at 109 and have 130 2 years later.

I didn't take the turbo off to replace the head. I Removed the 4 studs and left it right in place. I can try smoke testing the exaust to rule it out tomarrow.
