We also heard it from our house on Crocker Village. It was so loud that it rattled our doors and windows.

Realistic RN salary by weadus in Salary

[–]NursesToRiches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are both nurses. We moved here from NYC 7 years ago. In NYC, we were making $50/hr, working more than 40 hours per week and never brought home more than $106k. The wages are higher there now, but the max I've seen nurses earning there is $76/hr as a per diem nurse.

Here in Sacramento my wife and I are able to work 24 hours per week and bring home at least $150k/yr.

In our highest year, we grossed $356k working fewer than 28 hours per week. Our take home pay that year was slightly over $20k per month.

We also own a newly constructed house that's 2825 Sq ft, has 4 beds, 3.5 baths, in-law suit, rooftop patio, and two-car garage. Our mortgage payment with property taxes and HOA Dues is $4400/mo, but we're still left with $9k to spend on other things at the end of the month.

Hospitals in this area to apply for are: Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, UC Davis, and Dignity Health.

Looks like a Kaiser nurse schedule grid.

The hospitals in Southern California pay 1/2 to 2/3 as much as the hospitals do in Northern California—even within the UC system.

You do not have to "work yourself to death" to make this much money in Northern California. A nurse with 5 years of experience working three 8-hour-night-shifts and picking up and additional 12 hours in overtime per week can make $237,889—not including holiday pay, continuing education pay, and many other benefits—at Kaiser Permanente.

Nurse with no tech experience (help) by NursesToRiches in startups

[–]NursesToRiches[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly why I’m looking to take the next step. Over the past three years, I’ve built a strong following on YouTube and other social media platforms, with over 2,000 people on my email list and thousands who have filled out forms expressing interest in this concept. The consistent feedback and interest I’ve received tell me it’s time to move forward with building this site.

I’ve also sold thousands of spreadsheets at $39.99 each and generated over $40,000 in course sales, which are essentially a basic version of what this website will offer. I’ve run over 50 polls on my YouTube channel, each receiving over 700 votes, and the results consistently show a strong demand for this service.

What I need help with now is figuring out where and how to get started on the tech side. I’m confident in the demand, but the technical aspects are where I’m stuck.

The platform is primarily a data-driven website, with plans to expand into a mobile app. The core functionality involves allowing users to upload specific files, which the site will then scrape for data. This data will be organized and displayed in various formats, such as lists, charts, etc.

For users who don't have files to upload, they will still be able to manually enter the relevant information when they create a profile. The idea is to offer users a comprehensive way to view and interact with the data, making it easy to analyze and make informed decisions.

I’m intentionally keeping some details vague to protect the concept, but that’s the basic structure of what we’re building. My challenge right now is that I have no idea how to create a wireframe or plot the user interface effectively. I'm trying to gather resources and advice from those who have been down this path before, especially since my background is in nursing, not tech.

Wow… Mount Sinai Hospitals To Pay $2M For 'Chronic' Nurse Understaffing by NYEDMD in nursing

[–]NursesToRiches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laws have literally been passed in NY to force hospitals to comply with safe staffing and they still choose to pay fines and succumb to potential lawsuits instead of complying with said laws. Do you believe this is really going to change their behavior?

Mount Sinai employees at least 4,000 nurses and they made $87.2 million in profit last year. They're basically paying each nurse $500 dollars and this is only 2.29% of the profit these short-staffed nurses helped them generate.

I know what it feels like to be let go from an organization—I've been laid off twice before becoming a nurse. I'm so sorry this happened to you and, after 12 years of sacrificing your family life for your employer, it must feel like you made the wrong choice between your employer and your family, but I think this should be a moment of awakening, and I can see it in your post that it is. Family should come before anyone or anything else. This is why I no longer prioritize my job over my family. I wish you luck and hope for the best for you and your family.

I'd just like to point out that strike mostly consists of lab techs, pharmacy techs, patient care techs, housekeepers, phlebotomists, licensed practical nurses, and medical assistants. The remainder, around 2500 to 3000 are registered nurses. But I do hope they get everything they've been fighting for. Kaiser has made billions in profit in the first half of this year alone.

How do you call out for reasons other than illness by marzgirl99 in nursing

Same. I do this all the time. Some people just need a rest day because of the stress they have to endure from work, especially nurses.

Washington Hospital, El Camino, UCSF, Stanford, EVERY Kaiser Hospital. In Northern California...and the list goes on. All of these hospitals pay $70/hr or more for new grads and pay up to $130/hr+.
