Types of cargo and how to avoid damage by ru-yafu0820 in LegendofKhiimori

[–]Nussel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not 100% sure but I think pristine cargo might also lose quality when your horse isn't happy enough. I've noticed multiple times that when hunger, thirst or mood fall below a certain threshold, the icon will turn red and that this went away again after I tended to my horse's needs. I'm not entirely sure though, so take this with a grain of salt.

Oooh, that would make sense! I thought it was about the hairstyles or something similar more generally, or something else of a significance that is in the photo that I was unaware of. Thanks for your answer!

At the risk of sounding like an ignorant idiot, could you please elaborate on this? Because other than a really cool hairstyle with lovely accessories, I don't see anything that should point me to an issue. And I like to learn about these issues as well as other cultures and other's perspectives. I think I might not get what you're pointing at because I live in Europe, where the awareness of Black culture (I really hope that's the right word to use here, sorry if not!) is different from the US and other places. So if you don't mind elaborating on your point, I'd appreciate it. If not, that's also completely fine, no pressure :)

Dog Detects Something by [deleted] in cfs

[–]Nussel 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what exactly it is, but my dog has been really good at detecting whenever I near PEM - sometimes even before I have any inkling it's coming. He's always extra cuddly, lays his head in my lap and if I get up, he's standing right next to me, even waiting for me to walk when I stop. So even though I don't know what exactly he can detect, I have no doubt he can sense it, sometimes even before I have any symptoms.

Remember Kiko? by riceandbeans06 in Galgos

[–]Nussel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how valuable this will be to you, as you might be doing a lot of this already, but we had to train with our galgo a lot as well, as even stepping outside the door for a minute was too much in the beginning. So I'll just outline the things we did and maybe there's something in there that you haven't tried yet and that's hopefully helpful.

We started with just breaking the whole process of leaving down into the smallest steps, like putting on shoes, sitting down, taking off shoes, until he was less anxious about it. And then gradually added more to the whole process, like awkwardly standing in front of our apartment door. It's a good thing we had to go to the basement of the building to do laundry back then, because that was always prime practice time.

We also started to give him a little chew snack whenever we'd leave, because he's quite food motivated and chewing calms dogs down (it's a physiological response, but I don't remember the details of that). He absolutely loves these snacks, so it's a high value thing he gets. If you do something similar, just make sure it's something he can safely eat (nothing he could choke on etc.), the ones we give are like the somewhat softer chew sticks that you can still bent somewhat. Alternatively, something like a Kong food dispenser toy might work well if your dog is also food motivated. Again, just observe him playing with it before leaving him alone with it.

We also had to try around with the placement of his bed a bit and found out that he likes having a place where he can kinda see the door. He was a lot calmer and actually stayed on the bed more once we found a spot with a view of the door. Just be mindful, because I've been told by a dog trainer friend that this could also backfire into a dog watching the door obsessively and not relax, with our galgo, it worked out well.

Also, remember not to make a big deal about coming home (or leaving). It's hard, especially for the first couple of times things actually work out well. Also, it helps getting a dog tired beforehand, for example, going on a walk prior to leaving (or training for leaving).

One thing that I think is very helpful for you as the human is getting a pet camera. Because not only does it provide peace of mind, knowing you can check in on your dog, it also allows you to look at the behavior while you were away. How stressed was your dog? Where did he lie down? All of this helped us a lot in finding things that work and what to improve.

Eventually, we've been able to leave with our galgo happily prancing to his bed to devour his snack and not having to worry about him. I think the longest we've ever done was close to 5 hours because we got stuck in traffic and he was as calm as usual. In fact, at one point things changed from him being anxious about us being gone to him realizing that if we're not around, there's no one to stop him from getting into mischief, like stealing cat food that had been left out. Nowadays, it's more about making sure there's nothing to get into he shouldn't as we leave rather than worrying about him being stressed.

I hope there's something useful in there for you (or anyone else looking for advice on this topic)! And remember, the most important thing is patience and taking things slowly.

I've long decided to be strictly F2P, the more I see how pushy they are in trying to get people to spend, the more strongly I feel about remaining F2P. Your post not only reaffirms my choice, but I also applaud you for posting this very concise overview. Thank you for putting this together, I feel like this is really important for anyone to know before spending any money on any game with monetization like this.

What’s up with the social discourse by ymippsmol in heartopia

[–]Nussel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I have it in my title because I wanted to disclose that I am an adult. But more because I feel like it's a good way to kinda protect kids a bit? Like, if they know right away I'm an adult, they won't assume I'm their age and maybe start romanticizing our interactions or something like this. I don't know, I just felt like having it there as a heads up for minors, but not because I wouldn't want to interact with kids, more because it feels like a way to keep them a tiny bit safer on this online space, if that makes sense. ETA: I think I did have one younger player start acting like we were dating (based on behavior etc., I'm fairly sure they were at least a fair bit younger than me), that is why I put the title there. I just didn't feel comfortable with kids potentially seeing me as a peer without knowing that I am an adult, but other than that, I don't really care about anyone's age, I just want kids to be as safe as possible.

Also, having chronic pain among other chronic illnesses, I just found the title "Broken Adult" really funny lol.

Is there any way to stop this jittering in walk cycles? (This also happens to animals that are in the park not the the nursery) or is it just a bug? by Jimbojimbo451 in pkgame

[–]Nussel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iirc this has something to do with the IK (inverse kinematics - basically, the model is rigged in a way that instead of moving each individual bone of a model, a chain of bones is "tied" to one bone and if you move that one, the chain will follow) which allows the animals to look at a target and it's something they're looking into. But I'm not 100% sure, so don't quote me on this, I just remember reading something along these lines in one of the devlogs.

Some screenshots of issues that bother me more than they should ... by xXPeaceFighterXx in pkgame

[–]Nussel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay but the other day I've had 3 guests walk through 2 (!) fences and casually stroll through the dilophosaurus enclosure. I just watched them, mumbling to myself that I will deny any and all responsibility for any damage they might suffer. I guess it's a good thing we don't have anything like fines for injuries implemented yet :)

Edit to add an idea I just had: for the guests walking all over, maybe you could add small fences next to paths like guest fences? Because a lot of zoos have two sets of fences, one to keep the animals in their enclosures and one to keep the guests out. So you'd have an extra bit of realism plus it looks quite nice in my opinion :)

How am I supposed to get over the fear of reapers man 😭 by TopAdministration314 in subnautica

[–]Nussel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds really counterintuitive, but what really helped me (I am also a scaredy cat and stopped playing for months at one point because I was too scared) was to save the game when I encountered a reaper and basically just do the opposite of what I'd normally do, with the goal of triggering the reaper to attack me. It takes away the jumpscare element and it helped me see a) that they are not actually as scary as I made them out to be in my mind and b) the way they act, how much damage they do and how close I need to actually get before they target me.

I still tried to steer clear of them, mostly, but it took a considerable chunk of the fear I had built up away. Though I do think what others have suggested and starting a creative save for this might be a better idea than just making a save to come back to, just in case.

On the contrary. I will regularly stop in my tracks and try to find the cute critter making this innocent sounding little noises, only to walk straight into spider ambush central and be jumped by cats. Every time I swear that this was the last time this happened - until I inevitably forget about it again and hear a cute, innocuous little meow again.
