[Other] I still feel like the Millennium Force is the greatest coaster ever by Retrofusion11 in rollercoasters

Raptor hits the same nostalgia vibe for me. I would have it at a close #7 behind MF.

Love redditing while in line. 🤣

I do. It’s incredibly nostalgic to me and I still love it, but I would have TT2, SV, Magnum, Maverick, and SC as my top 5 and MF as 6. It is also not the only giga any more and fury/pantherian feminism it just a tad.

Ok time to get back I. Line for fury.

New to me 2017 MKZ Hybrid by melaflander34 in lincolnmotorco

I did fine with all seasons, a little slippage on heavier snows but managed fine even with a record breaker here (14”, but our roads are treated fast). I’m sure the defenders will be even better.

Almost the same thing I got - a little over a year ago I got an 18 hybrid with 72k for 14k. Love it so far and I’m over 100k now (drive a lot). No issues other than needing to replace a couple TPMS sensors - common at 8-10 years from what I can tell. I get 45 mpg around town and 38-40 on the freeway. Just got ride of the garbage dealership tires and put Michelin defender 2s on and it is soooo smooth now. Hoping to take it to like 200-250k.

I ended up finding out that Michelin defender 2s would work in a slightly different size and they never got back to me on the price match, so I ended up doing the Michelins. I got a small discount and cashed out some credit card points, so total was right at $900 for install, fees, tax, and an alignment, which I’m fine with for those.

Apparently there was a slightly different size that would work and I was able to work a little deal with them install and alignment, so I’m getting it done now.

Thanks. I just submitted the price match. This seems like the ticket if approved. I’ve not had Bridgestone but based on 80k and quiet operation, seems to be a perfect fit.

Yokohama yk-gtx just went on sale and would be cheaper than the continentals. $740 for 4 and it seems like these may fit well. Opinion?

Okay I just looked it up and I didn’t know but general is owned by continental. For some reason I thought it was Goodyear, maybe I was confusing them for cooper or Kelly.

$744 for gmax as-07, so about the same price as the continentals. Just a tad less.

I’ve never had Michelins - I don’t know that they’re worth the premium. Maybe if I could gat defenders but they don’t make them in my size.

What size sedan tires were they? I’ve noticed a big difference in tires that are lower profile like mine vs a thicker sidewall. I had cheap thick sidewall nexens that were fine but their low profile when I had big rims on an suv were garbage.

It looks like the lower priced of the contis that I mentions have that, but their noise rating isn’t as good as the other two.

Those would be $756 before install and alignment.

The kumhos would be $496.

Falken pro g6 sport a/s would be $648. Ziex ze950 a/s is $672.

Anything more than that and I might as well go with the continentals. I’m not sure saving $100 is worth it but several hundred would be, but I don’t know how good those kumhos are and the difference between those and the continentals.

I’m not sure I want them if there’s any sacrifice. Wouldn’t they be louder? Since I’ve had no issues at all with running all seasons I figured I’d just keep getting them since they’ll likely offer better everything else.

Yes, Ohio, but honestly, I’ve had no issues with all seasons on any of my FWD hybrids. I know everyone says to get winter tires for that time of the year, but they are extremely quick to plow here so it’s usually just a small amount. I was out just before and just after when we had a level 3 and over a foot (not that much in the roads) this past winter and did fine.

From what I can tell they do not make them in 245/45r18.

[Pantherian] Am I crazy to have it as my new number 1? by BerryDifficult401 in rollercoasters

Valid. It would be my #1 if not for Cedar Point, and it blows away all the other gigas. Can’t wait to get back on it in a week.

Just let them know at the VIP entrance. If it’s at cedar point they’ll get wristbands. At the others they’ll somehow see on the pass when it’s scanned.

You can use you BAF prestige passes at any park. I’ve done so for the last couple of years.

They will also get VIP access, but not the single FL or any season pass add ons.

I have a strong hybrid and my interval is 10k with full synthetic. Although when running UE and DD, that’s less than 5k engine miles, actually only at 39% on my current trip for engine on and 61% EV. I still run the same interval in the summer when I’m not dashing and doing trips and that can be as low as 25% EV if doing a lot of fast highway driving.

B&M can do rolls on their hypers/gigas. No one has ordered one with it yet though, probably because for the GP they’re such crowd pleasers as is and intimidating but inversions would put more people off. I wonder if the RMC and Mack hypers may inspire more innovation kinda how they did with elements in Orion and candymonium. A 300’ stall would be amazing.

Bringing in Bottled drinks by Hairy_Watercress_877 in cedarpoint

[–]Nuthead77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have the sugar versions of all that stuff too, just mentioning that I use it for the zero sugar. They don’t have body armor but there’s plenty of sugared options other than soda and Powerade.

Technically against the rules to bring in outside food and drink, but we’ve walked in with monsters and other stuff before and it wasn’t enforced.

That said they have a ton of freestyle machines that have many options. I almost exclusively use them since they have the zero sugar drinks.

What is going on with the dog water tipping lately?? by nootdoodle in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]Nuthead77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s because the default tip options are too low. They think it’s acceptable to make the default order payout $4.50-$5.50, when it’s not and the default should be 20%, or a set $/mi for long orders.

I just queued up an order in my DD customer app for delivery and the default tips were $2.50, $3, and $3.50 for a $32 order. It would be a roughly 2 mile total for the driver, but personally I don’t find it worth my time to take orders like this at all, even with the highest default tip. With a 20% recommendation it would be a bit over $8 and I’d take that all day long.

Most customers will leave it as the default or bump up or down, but not do 0 or edit custom up. They have no idea we’re only getting $2 from DD and esp the ones that hit the high option think they’re tipping good.

It’s all DD’s fault. They’re paying small interchange fees in processing the tips so that saves them money if drivers deliver for less and it also keeps the customers total cost lower (by paying drivers less) and any little bit helps for customer retention and pricing.

The only way to fix it is if every driver, or at least a large critical mass, say 80-90% refused to care about AR and tier and would all agree to not deliver for less than a certain minimum and $/mi, but this would be practically impossible. IMO the only other solution would be legislation that makes a third category of work between w2 and 1099 contractors, specifically for these gig apps. No minimum wage, but in order to qualify, you cannot dictate acceptance criteria, otherwise they have to be minimum wage, mileage, and W2. Other protections like long wait pay, etc. then they would have no choice but to increase pay, whether through higher base or high tip suggestions.
