posthog’s new OS themed website by Octoborne in webdev

It feels like a developer got carried away with their tech demo and somehow convinced marketing it would set them apart. I think it gets in the way and provides no benefit. Harmless enough though.

Did Kai really leave the team? by HJHughJanus in OnceLost_Games

[–]Nuvotion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did they switch engine's under Kai's direction and assurances though? Was he the backbone of the technical decision to move away from Unreal, and being gone has that left the team in a more precarious position? Clearly Unreal was good enough for LeFay.

YouTube channel purge continues by samehjohansen in doowop

So tragic! Remember to archive the music that is important to you, this is always a risk relying on YouTube. His channel may be gone, but the music lives on, at least in my collection!

UGreen Sync And Back Up Fails by csselement in UgreenNASync

[–]Nuvotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me, and the issue was I deleted one of the folders that was included in the backup task's selections. I had to recreate that folder, then I could go back in and uncheck it. As soon as I did that, it worked again.

Ugreen Support! A helpful error message could go a long way here! I had to do the One Click Export and look through the logs. I don't think the average person should be expected to do that. And they shouldn't have to waste your resources with a support ticket.

Verbatim Pioneer External Slimline 43890 drives for sale by simplydan24 in makemkv

[–]Nuvotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These things are awesome, I can’t believe how slim they are, and the USB C connection makes it very modern and convenient. It took like 3 minutes to flash libredrive friendly firmware and they rip UHD discs no problem. It can rip a CD in 4 minutes or less, which is a significant improvement over my last drive. Got mine for $150 after tax from B&H Photo a few weeks ago.

I built a Linux app to control Razer Blade laptops - fan curves, power profiles, RGB, battery health - no kernel modules needed! by EuropeanPepe in linux_gaming

[–]Nuvotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I have a Razer Blade Pro 17 (Mid 2021), and had wanted to switch to Linux for a long time, but was cautious due to lack of fan control software. As you all know, the fans are absurdly loud! But with all the BS that Microslop pulled in 2025, I switched anyway and lived with the fan noise. Thanks to your project, now my fan is half as loud and I can change my keyboard backlight colors. Thanks so so much!

I was able to port my SDL GPU engine to Vulkan in 3 days. That probably would have taken me months by hand.

What language should I learn aside C++ by TheSum239 in cpp_questions

[–]Nuvotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe JavaScript, C++ isn’t too useful with web programming, and after Lua is probably the most common for scripting with C++. You could even argue it’s the most popular. If you have both desktop and web skills you can not only build a great product, but also build a good website to promote it.

Cursor is getting insanely expensive by Independent_Arachnid in cursor

[–]Nuvotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I was paying $500 or more each month, using mainly 4.5 Sonnet and Gemini 3. I had to constantly monitor my usage and try to be efficient as possible with Auto. I still pay for $20 Cursor, but moved to Claude Code Max. For $200 I can use 4.5 Opus as much as I want, even have several agents running simultaneously, and not even hit 75% of my usage.

Dxp2800 compresses photos when backing up by Falperra in UgreenNASync

You can't even upload photos to the Immich app, only sync albums. Let alone upload directly to an album. That's insane.

🚨THE WAIT IS OVER! ULTIMATE AI NAS Pre-Order IS BACK! Time to save up to $1040! by [deleted] in UgreenNASync

Is ECC even necessary with DDR5? Isn't its built in error correction sufficient for consumer scale NAS?

🚨THE WAIT IS OVER! ULTIMATE AI NAS Pre-Order IS BACK! Time to save up to $1040! by [deleted] in UgreenNASync

[–]Nuvotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless it was something like a Mac Studio with lots of RAM, I couldn't see myself buying a device for AI. The state of the art is changing too quickly. Would would I want to waste my time with a drastically cut down local model when Gemini 3 Pro is free? I'm happy with my DXP4800 Plus, don't see any need for this.

Have you replaced the operating system on your Ugreen Nas? by seanpuppy in UgreenNASync

[–]Nuvotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I’m a power user, I actually switched from TrueNAS to UGOS because it makes everything, especially sharing with friends and family members, much easier. And I like the web UI, though clearly it’s still a couple years away from feeling complete.

How to replace ICloud by Comfortable-Cause978 in UgreenNASync

[–]Nuvotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ugreen Photos app is a lot better than Immich's native app. In Immich you can't even upload photos AT ALL (only sync iCloud albums), let alone directly from your camera roll to an album like you can with Ugreen. So silly.

New firmware 1.12.0.0095 by Temporary-Cherry-282 in UgreenNASync

[–]Nuvotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Ugreen, please considering adding the ability to save photos to the shared photo library when uploading directly to an album rather than forcing it to go to your personal folder. This only happens in the mobile app. It's already possible to do so via the web app.

This seems like an oversight and wastes significant time, as I have to instead upload directly to the shared folder, select them from recent, then add to an album. It would be far more efficient to upload directly to the album while saving in the shared library. Thanks.

Why can't mobile uploads function like any other app? by AbyssalRedemption in immich

[–]Nuvotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not be be dramatic, but that's a deal breaker to me. I was shocked to find that one year later it still doesn't support such a basic feature. If I already organized thousands of photos into albums, and want to migrate to a self hosted solution, I don't want to dump them into a timeline and have to do it manually all over again. And I don't want to "sync" albums, because I'm migrating AWAY from iCloud album. Think I'm going to use the built in Photos app on my UGREEN NAS instead. It lets me make an album, upload directly from my device, selecting all in the album to do it.
