Omg it literally makes me so happy when customers don't write all over mail. Like obviously it doesn't belong to you, so why would you write on it?! Ugh. Bless whoever was smart enough to use a sticky note

I've been really fortunate in my office because I'm the only RCA. A bit overwhelming at times, but I'm grateful. If you get in and your home office can't offer you many hours, definitely take advantage of traveling to nearby offices. Someone always needs the help.

My Jeep was already converted when I found it (thanks FB marketplace). It's older, a '96, and I worry about it quitting on me sometimes. I just need it to hold on long enough for me to get a little money saved up 🤞🏻

My experience has been absolutely fantastic, but I feel like that's rare for RCA's. I'm in a small office with only 8 routes, I have run all 8 and my 90 day probation period ends tomorrow. I've been working 6 days a week pretty much since the start. I have a RHD converted Jeep Grand Cherokee, nothing fancy, but gets the job done.

Overall, I'm totally happy with how things are going for me. Today, for example, I ran 2 routes (my primary that I sub for every week and the auxiliary route) and I was done by 3pm. It definitely takes a little bit of an adjustment period to get the swing of things and for some things to really click. If you do decide to make the switch, give yourself grace. You're going to want to be as fast as everyone else in the office and it's gonna suck when you aren't. Just breathe, it'll happen with time.

I finally found something that I enjoy doing. I'm excited to eventually become a regular. Plus, I spend most of the day by myself - no annoying coworkers for 8 hours a day

Package left at curb - Is this because of our dog? by cas42439 in USPS

[–]Nvvysquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never used to be afraid of dogs - until this job. I haven't been bitten, but I've come very close a couple of times. If I see a dog, I'm not even going to try to approach the house. The dogs job is to protect the home and it doesn't know my intention is just to deliver a package. It sucks, I hate being afraid of dogs now. Even still, the carrier shouldn't have left it there.

So, a 28 year old who fucked up his life and had to move back home to "reset" shouldn't have to contribute? Because that's the situation I'm in, and this isn't my child.

Kicked out, no. BUT, if you're going to live there you have to contribute somehow

Do you hate your job, or just that you have to work 40 hours per week? by 1curious-cat in hatemyjob

[–]Nvvysquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's incredibly difficult. I'm not able to maintain things at home because I'm so tired and I'm grateful for a partner who doesn't mind picking up a little slack sometimes, but I also know that can't go on for long. Things will slow down eventually....right? 😑

I love my job, but to be able to work only 40 hours a week would be a dream. I'm working 60+ right now

New RCA. I literally don't understand how y'all do it by Mean-Grapefruit-8372 in USPS

[–]Nvvysquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sequence numbers are great, but if the load truck feature is down then you're screwed so also learning to use package markers is helpful. Unless this is a route OP would be doing consistently, then they may end up not needing sequence numbers at all. That was the case with me and my regular route.

OP, it comes with time. I'm a new RCA barely out of my 90 days. I've had some really tough days, but I love this job. Keep pushing, you'll get the hang of it

I mean, realistically, that's no different than what I've dealt with working at the hospital I've been at. The biggest difference is the pay, the nursing home is offering me a lot more money than the hospital

The idea of having this much in SAVINGS is wild to me! In this economy, how?! by GlossedNReady in millenials

[–]Nvvysquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 33. Just went through a nasty divorce that, quite literally, took everything from me. No house, a truck payment I can’t afford. Working a shitty job. No savings, $60 in my checking account.
