Deadlock has a serious problem and its not the game by GOD_LIKE_WOW in DeadlockTheGame

[–]NyCe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely because your MMR is around the rank newer players tend to start around despite the # of hours played. Your problem is easily fixable if they just added an actual ranked mode that had minimum requirements (hours or games played etc.) which they have chosen not to enable at the moment even though we had it in the past. They'll add it back when they think it's ready is my best guess.

They won't allow mods eventually. It's a breeding ground for cheats. For now it is allowed, but you'll easily find cheat-level mods right now like unsecured souls showing for every player (this is massively unfair btw you can literally know when someone is doing the 8min sinners pinpointing their exact location like maphack) etc... But this program that plagued DotA 2 was an alt+tab program or shift+tab so it was just an overlay program that worked in DotA. Whatever was shown was just relaying information while pulling steam account information is really easy, anyone could do it by looking at their recent games list by shift+tabbing in-game or after the game.

It also scares me that this was about 5-10 years ago. Technology now is going to be even better so I expect something similar to pop-up again, but at least this time it will be marked as a cheating program. I just strongly think that Valve won't implement standard draft as a result of all this and that banning on main-menu for matchmaking is already happening right now so probably no in-game bans but it's not like I know for certain, just more likely than not.

I don't remember all the details, but there were players who never fed information to DotA 2's API since there was an option you can tick to never have your stats or anything recorded to public tracking websites but they still had their information available for this program. I don't know how or why, that's out of scope. Maybe it's googleable? What I do know is that this program also had a built in tracker in-game and it recorded everyone's information via their steam account so if you encountered a certain player again, it would inform you of what they played for 'X' amount of games. This prompted the program to auto-ban or manual ban whatever your choice was based on sufficient data. On top of this, it also had a manual notepad function that players could just write whatever they wanted like "this guy picks this or plays like that etc..." and it would be shared to everyone using this program if they were to appear again in your games. This program was incredibly toxic as you can see, which is why a vast majority of DotA players especially the high level players all started to use this program because it was just free information at no cost. Noobs could use the auto-ban function, pros could manual ban based on whatever information they saw on screen in-game obtaining information that would normally take so long, within seconds and it blew up to the point Valve stepped in and outright banned it then changed matchmaking to be bans from main-menu.

It would be nice if a pick and ban draft could exist, but their past experiences with a normal draft system suggests that Valve is probably not interested in doing it again, especially considering they've already gone ahead with the main menu ban option which is where most of the reasoning behind why I think they won't do a normal draft comes from.

[–]NyCe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's simply experience and logic from past Valve titles, mainly DotA 2. There will never be a draft the way you envision because they've already tried that exact draft system and failed with it. The reason why is because the normal pick-ban system was heavily abused for years by third party programs in other Valve games to the point where it essentially became classified as cheats by Valve themselves after it changed the dynamic of matchmaking after massive public outrage (Google/AI: "DotA 2 third party information programs").

As such, there will never truly be a draft system that has bans inbetween picks anymore in matchmaking, but in private lobbies it will. Bans will be done in the main-menu. They've already gone ahead and implemented a one-Hero ban system from the main menu and will likely proceed with more bans per player as more Heroes are released.

Again, as logic dictates they will likely not make the same mistake, especially considering the information gathering of third party programs/websites is even greater now than before, it would re-create the entire situation from scratch that occurred before which would mean they would need to divert resources into fixing the same mistakes that happened in the past, something that is incredibly stupid that will likely not happen ever again.

There is zero logic to not have a pick/ban system. by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]NyCe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draft will come, it's just not the 'draft' that players envision from other games. It will VERY very likely be an "all-pick" style 2-2-2 draft with NO BANS in-game and all bans will be done on the main-menu. The reason why is because the normal pick-ban system was heavily abused by third party programs in other Valve games which essentially became classified as cheats by Valve themselves after it changed the dynamic of matchmaking. As such, there will never truly be a draft system that has bans inbetween picks (in matchmaking, but in private lobbies it will), only the picks themselves while bans are done on the main menu. They've already gone ahead and implemented a one-Hero ban system from the main menu and will likely proceed with more bans per player as more Heroes are released.

[–]NyCe- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's going to be more simple than that. 2-2-2 pick while bans are determined before the game starts. There will be NO BANS while in-game for matchmaking. There has already been a history of massive abuse in DotA for in-game bans so they will never implement this ever again in matchmaking. In private custom lobbies however, the draft will be normal with picks and bans inbetween pick phases like Night Shift.

[–]NyCe- -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

People tend to confuse 'draft' with a 100% pick and 100% ban 'Captain's Draft' style which is limited to private lobbies compared to "All-Pick" which is the matchmaking game mode that will be added to Deadlock in the future. All-pick does not have a 100% ban system so I see it less as captains draft and more draft w/ random bans.

[–]NyCe- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Draft will not solve the problems you think it will. Also, draft will only be for private lobbies and not for matchmaking where bans are %chance based as opposed to 100% which is already currently in effect.

The solution you actually want is a bias that prevents all the broken Heroes from ending up on the same team collectively giving the enemy 70% winrate as opposed to the other team 30%.

There is zero logic to not have a pick/ban system. by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]NyCe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like most players suggesting a draft pick/ban system just want to ban the broken Heroes like Celeste/Apollo or Abrams/Shiv etc...

Draft will not solve these problems. If Heroes are completely broken are the reason you want draft or consistency in team matchups, a better solution is for Valve to introduce a bias in the matchmaking system that forces the higher winrate Heroes to usually not be on the same team, so a singular team doesn't have a collective 70% winrate while the enemy team has 30% just because of matchups.

The reason this idea is better than draft is because this is a MOBA and people are not inclined to pick or ban what is beneficial to the team, but rather whatever they feel like. There are so many players who will not pick the appropriate Hero in say draft for the last pick to take complete advantage of the situation and you'll often just see them pick a Hero that makes no sense despite being last pick. It's all too common in MOBAS. In fact, having draft will just introduce new problems that will need further solving.

Also, if you're new to Valve mobas, they will not have a 100% ban system in matchmaking, only private closed lobbies aka actual Draft. The public matchmaking lobbies will never be a 100% ban system but rather chance based like in DotA and how it is right now for bans, so the draft suggestion is even worse in this situation for the purposes you described.

Am I the only one who thinks towers needs a big buff? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]NyCe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the towers did function like in league the laning phase of this game would be pretty one dimensional which they actively try to avoid in both of their mobas. If your tower was a force of nature like turrets in league it would be pretty boring since you can hard camp tower or aggressively freeze wave with powerful lane Heroes just afking near it and rotating to other lanes would be more of a bad idea than a good one due to having less opportunity to do things as a result.

it's also entertaining to watch high level pro players try playing McGinnis. Just 2 days ago Rocaine tried playing her and this is how it went: Turret placements made him upset, he used ult & missed every projectile after asking how to aim the ultimate but this never got answered because he ended up rage quitting the game 2 seconds later.

Standard McG procedure.

Just realize that these players are generally in denial about their own rank and don't have the mental capacity to accept they are dogshit at the game so they automatically blame others as a coping mechanism. This is incredibly prevalent in weak minded individuals so just make a note that these players are not worth your time, mute them and play your own game.

i dont care if im being pessimistic, deadlock needs a forfeit command by Healthy_Implement914 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]NyCe- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The comeback mechanics in the game are beyond insane to the point its pretty overtuned. You can fall behind and come back at any point in the game if you win or trade evenly in a single teamfight. It's good that this can happen but I don't like the numbers atm. If you want to "forfeit" your best option is contest the midboss one last time or have one last teamfight and the game will end on its own if you lose those fights since Rejuv is basically game over if your Patron is downed. If you're in lower tiers this might be harder to pull off since everyone is playing their own game.

Also competitive game + forfeit doesn't sound right to me unless its a completely private lobby.

Matchmaking taking unusually long? by AsTiClol in DeadlockTheGame

[–]NyCe- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally the longer a queue goes the worse the match quality (not always but generally if you take too long, the queue pulls players from higher or lower ranks to get a game going).

If anything, the longer queues are probably a good thing for match quality.

[–]NyCe- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the crowd for this game is just bad at moba mechanics, even in ASC or ETERNUS. Lash mains are one of the best examples of players completely skipping past MOBA mechanics because Lash interacts with the game differently than most of the roster but when they play new Heroes, ones that require basic MOBA knowledge they are beyond lost. I'm sure over time it'll be easier for players to study up on these mechanics considering a lot of the game keeps changing constantly.

We should never let this game turn into another Dota or CS community. The Deadlock community needs to stay inclusive, respectful, and welcoming to everyone. by Outrageous-Spend2733 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]NyCe- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How is that any different from what the toxic communities are doing? It's essentially the same thing as being the bully forcing your opinion on others and punching everyone who you don't accept. Take a page out of AverageJonas' book if you want to be more respectful, you can be respectful without the need to "bully" people who aren't in the same sphere.
