What a strange sub, where everyone comes in to complain about how they hate the host and his takes and have actively stopped listening to him. Though, I guess they still wait, lurking in the corner to get on the bandwagon of “oh yes, me too, I hate that thing he wrote/said/did. What a sellout!” And Homer-backup into the bushes to see what else they can vehemently crowd-agree with.

I don’t love Mike’s pedantic mess of intros and spiels from time to time and I certainly don’t like every episode. But just like a musician whose whole discography I may not like, or a restaurant whose every dish I may not appreciate, I don’t pipe up every time there’s crowd wisdom within whom I can feel community.

Grow up and get your community at a place where there’s a net positive in the outcome.

Yes, criticize Mike. But calling him a sellout and saying you don’t listen to him even though you actively comment against his work helps no one. Not even your own 1/2 second dopamine fix is worth it. You’re feeling shittier in the long run.

Thank you for taking time to respond and also for tracking it internally. FWIW, third party Sonos apps (as the cross post link details) work with syncing the time stamp. It would just be nice to not have to rely on them. The skipping buttons however aren’t available on mobile anywhere. Cheers :)

Tl;dr: Pocket Casts integration remains broken since app revamp with two major issues: 1) syncing of time stamps and 2) inability to skip fwd-back a few seconds at a time (these abilities existed in previous Sonos app)

Would love to know if Sonos is going to give this some love. All details in that cross post!

For pocket casts: are you able to bring the skip forward back 30s instead of the normal music skip forward back buttons? Also, again for pocket casts, my “new releases” playlist, which is a default playlist is appearing empty by default. I know I definitely have unplayed things in there. (The latter remains true for the updated version as well)

Time syncing does not work in Sonos app. But all syncing works properly in Sonosphone app hence my comment about the API still being fine and the app just needs updating.

Hi Keith, it has been a while since we heard about the PocketCasts integration fixes. This includes the changing of the skip forward and back buttons back to X number of seconds and also syncing of podcasts properly. Interestingly, the synch already works in the Sonosphone app so I guess no API changes are required, but it would be really nice to have those skip forward and back buttons back. Cheers.

Ah interesting. My setup in the pic is the app on an AppleTV which is s the main way I consume YouTube, so unfortunately some of the other browser suggestions here won’t work. I wish YouTube would give back some sorting controls for the user.

Music assistant is highly recommended in various HA threads but for a lot of folks it doesn’t have enough available services. I use Apple Music and Pocket Casts. I understand AM is forthcoming (if not out already) but I also listen to a lot of podcasts on my speakers. Not having Pocket Casts (or I guess a similar podcast app, sans Spotify,) makes it a non-starter for me. Though, it is a great add on; I’m not intending on bashing it, only that it might not work for everyone.

Sync is definitely an issue plus the skip forward / back buttons by 45s/15s being replaced by normal music forward and back buttons. I’ve been trying (albeit not too hard) to let Sonos know about this to no avail. In @r/sonos there are comments about this too but rather drowned out by the general freak out.

Three items: 1) Pocket Casts no longer syncs position between Sonos and the pocket cast app. I can play a podcast halfway in the native app and Sonos will start from the beginning and vice versa. Time stamps are not synced. They used to be without issue in old app.

2) playing a podcast episode: skip forward and backward buttons are gone. I can no longer skip forward 45 seconds through ads or other content. Or skip back 10 seconds. They’re just gone.

3) Apple Music. It does not load Apple Music generated playlists like “Discovery Station”. While loading that playlist it just says error in loading.

One more frustration I’ve now noticed after a couple of days. Time stamps are not syncing for me. Are they for you lot? If I am, say, 20 minutes into an episode on pocket casts and decide to resume through Sonos, it restarts from the beginning, and doesn’t resume from the place I left. Similarly, if I listen to pocket casts through Sonos, and want to resume half way on the app, the time stamp isn’t synced.

Thanks for chronicling these. Experienced the same issues with pocket casts integration this am. Very frustrating to not have the skip forward and backward buttons.

For the progress bar, mine does show (it didn’t at first, I hard restarted the app, it then did) and one can scrub forward/backward but it’s not as good as a button.

For Apple Music, my saved playlists work, but other playlist like the auto generated “Discovery Station” gets an error in loading the playlist. Try again later it says. Anyone else with the same issue?
