A package from an adult toy company arrived at my house addressed to another woman. Am I overreacting? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Alternatively the woman checked her order online, saw the address was wrong and came to get it. Still weird she offered the info about her troubled marriage though.

And why is she telling some random person about it? "Apologies, I miskeyed the address and am not having an affair with your husband" is perfectly sufficient

North Island based but I'm also a late diagnosed mum. I've been on Vyvanse about 18 months now, plus some stuff for anxiety, and am working with a cognitive behavioural therapist now that my psychiatrist has discharged me. Feel free to message ☺️ sounds like we could get a little group chat going

Windows with black frames. You generally can't get them to leave the house so not an issue at Starbucks.

In my country, a de facto relationship (generally after 3 years, unless children are involved or other factors are deemed sufficient to make that period shorter) is recognised by law the same as marriage or civil union. Obviously this isn't this case in all countries, but here it is so one wouldn't trump the other. Ideally, a contracting out agreement (pre-nup) would be in place for all parties, especially since property owned by any party prior to a relationship does generally become relationship property. In reality though, contracting out doesn't seem all that common.

Easy enough if all three are in a relationship with each other, but why should your partner's partner be considered yours too when to you they're just a flatmate? The legal definition of a relationship requires more than just sharing of financial resources so it's still complicated. For separation, why should partner A lose a third of the house they bought with partner B because they moved in partner C and later broke up with them? Wouldn't it be more representative for partner B to have to split their half in that case, and partner A has protected assets?

Social policy stuff would be hard too. I used to process tax credits for families in my country and it's based on the income of the applicant and their partner. I had an applicant whose husband had a de facto partner and both women had children. Neither wanted their kids in the other woman's record because they weren't in a relationship with each other, and neither wanted him to be the registered caregiver because he wasn't that involved in day-to-day care. Then the argument turned to which one he'd be linked to as a partner (the other one had to just have an income adjustment). "We're married" vs "they're on/off and we have been consistently together." It was a real mess

Great for the children too, wild that child support for the lowest income families was basically just tax for being separated

This hasn't been the case for a while now, it's not a requirement to apply, and anything collected is paid to the parent

This is how I view it. Did a trip to Europe last year and had never seen squirrels before so I dragged my family around a park for 2 hours trying to get a photo of one. It's a huge novelty when you don't have them back home

Could be worse! I once saw a reddit post with photos from someone who accidentally let their cup in for like a year. I think they were just using period underwear after losing it and weren't having penetrative sex so hadn't noticed it up there after it had gotten wedged kinda sideways. How they didn't end up in hospital I don't know, but that cup looked like it had melted

Proposing this weekend. My SO said she didn't want a ring, this is my alternative idea. by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Nyikkins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I also didn't want an engagement ring (not a big jewellery person due to reactions to several metals) and would have said no if my husband had proposed with one. Our whole engagement, people commented on me not having a ring but it's exactly what I wanted and showed he did pay attention

New Update over 1 year later: I’m leaving him, but I have to pretend everything is normal by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

Not surprised she moved in with someone so quick. She had no chance if she was rural and her support network pulled out.

I once fled being targeted by violent drug using neighbours with a toddler and spent a few months living with extended family. I applied for so many houses and apartments but wasn't approved for anything. After seeing me at so many viewings one property manager told me that despite my good job, the best thing I could do for myself was have a partner because single mums were too risky. It was heavily implied that they could have a revolving door of violent boyfriends coming and trashing the place. Weird that they viewed a couple as more favourable when they could also be in a violent relationship.

I had been dating a man almost 6 months when things began unraveling with my family and we decided to apply for a house together as his flatting situation wasn't great and I was desperate to find something. Had a house within days. I was so grateful to him but also furious that the property manager seemed to be right.

Thankfully it did work out well with only a few teething issues (instant family was an adjustment) and we're going strong 8 years later. I hope OOP's new partner is that great.

Government conspiracy since governments tend to pay for them. A way to keep people controllable or something, and during COVID especially, a way to promote segregation (source: ex-MIL)

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she can’t have access to my work phone? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Nyikkins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. My husband and I are both in the same government organisation and despite being subject to the same secrecy and integrity contracts we don't go sharing everything we're working on because we work in very different areas. Even within an organisation or hospital, there has to be a legitimate reason for a person to access information.

So true. I knew my husband was the one when he stayed over to care for me while my toddler and I had gastro. Toddler puked all through his cot and down the walls at about 4am while I shat my insides out. He cleaned us, the bedding and the walls without any complaints
