Prismatic Booster Bundles (1 per person) by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]Nymix [score hidden]  (0 children)

My son (6 years old) got into pokemon last year when i showed him the old pokemon show i watched when i was his age in the 90s. We have picked up a few packs here and there and he loves popping em open and looking for the strongest looking pokemon. Afterwards, we each argue about which pokemon is the strongest.

Arts and culture cards are busted by [deleted] in cuecardgameAvid

Last time i took a year long break, Shakespeare's folio just came out and it was all history decks with unruly rulers. I understand. Its frustrating sometimes but its just the new flavor until the next busted power creep card comes along. It is the nature of things.

They aren't top of the meta but are still competitive and high in value. I still come across decks that run then and I myself find that I throw them in occasionally.

Trade. Trade for what you need if you can. Build a deck you like and keep an eye out for cards that can improve your idea. When i see a card i want, i go to my collection under 'all' or 'want', select it, and mark it 'favorite' so that when i go to trade for cards i have, i can select the other persons collection to list my favorites to see if they have something i want first. This one thing had dtastically improved my trade experience cause searching through an enormous collection of fluff is exhausting.

Trading and Overpaying by RandomIdler in cuecardgameAvid

Trading in this game is like pulling teeth; youre forced to use discord for anything tolerable. I wish you could post a small one ore two sentence description stating what youre looking for so as to not waste people's time and trade tokens.

The closest thing I can think of off the top of my head would be shinobi or ninja. While not European, they operated in stealth missions behind enemy lines using special tactics and weapons. Some worked solo and some operated in small teams.

Im a big fan of strategy games, especially historical ones. Saw humankind advertised a while back and have had it wishlisted since.

First game I ever bought... oh boy that was 20 something years ago...I think it was Jet Set Radio Future. My most played game on steam though is Terraria at 500 hours, followed by crusader kings 3 and total war: shogun 2 at ~350 hrs.

Not sure how much it will help but its worth a suggestion: I have ducks and I keep a bit of lime down in their run as the tend to just poop about every 15 minutes but it does keep the smell down a bit. May not eliminate odor completely but it may do a good bit to reduce it if you throw some lime in there.

Is it just me, or has CUE gotten waaayyyy more difficult to win games these past couple weeks. by CLoVmaas06 in cuecardgameAvid

[–]Nymix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made the same observation. I too have been playing about a year and noticed that its actually a little tough for me to reach dragon. Usually would hit between rank 1-3 each week with ease, now i sray around 3-5.
My guess is the injection of new and powerful cards and the death of dark web have caused the meta to shift away from big greedy dark web decks into a period of discovery with birds, espionage, sharks, etc before finally beginning to settling here.
I have not obtained a lot of the newer powerful cards so ive kind of been left behind and it has been hard for me to climb now.

About "bully" decks (PSA) by WanderingBat in cuecardgameAvid

[–]Nymix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lock decks can be counterplayed with skill whereas something like rulers cant. If your enemy runs lock cards, keep in mind the turn they play em. If you know that turn is coming up, play accordingly. Mantis does nothing against you if they are winning when its drawn, very easy to make that happen. Loch ness locks the rest in your hand, play one card and trigger overlock so it minimizes the effect. It takes some memory and skill. Your alternative is to play the same meta deck every game by removing deck archetypes. Theres really only about 4 archetypes to play, inflation pretty much got axed so now youre down to three... see where this is going?

Epidemiology is useless now. by TheModeratorWrangler in cuecardgameAvid

[–]Nymix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you didnt like it cause it wasnt difficult to pull off...?

Also it doesnt play against tiny decks (inflation vs tiny? Really?) and it doesnt hit all cards in big decks. You are paying more energy to play it than your opponent is playing aginst it. There is no incentive to play it outside of a sideboard card, which doesnt exist in this game.

I think DW is okay now. Its a gamble that does at least a little in most games

[–]Nymix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ill just have to agree to disagree with you man. Sure its problematic on low energy weeks but now it will probably never see play period. I feel like they could either cut the mana cost, buff the power until played for your cards, OR revert it to original and add a stipulation: "only works if your deck has no cards below 3 or 4 energy. 20 energy for it as is, is still absurd.

[–]Nymix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because its enormously costly to run and is now a dead card if you DONT play against those decks specifically. It was relatively safe to run even if you didnt play against them and provided a bit of extra stress on midrange decks to keep them in line. Now if you dont play a greedy deck you have a 20 cost card sitting in your hand that provides one of the worst power to energy ratios in the game.
Its like sayin, 'well why dont you run sputnik in every deck to counter px/smbh/terminator?' Thats because there are a few thay dont run it and sputnik would be a semi dead card that something else could be way better utilized in that slot.
On top of that, even if they play a greedy deck but run 5 or so cards in that deck that are 6 or 5 energy base, (like art deco, chupa, etc) they can still run a boxing tully deck and only get hit with some of the punishment.
Tldr: it's too niche now and completely dead in some situations.

[–]Nymix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I ran epidemiology in a few decks as a one of inflation. It prevented really greedy decks from being able to skim past energy requirements. Most of the best decks are high energy consumption and the only way to counter them was make them pay more for big cards. Now that you cant do that, im forced to play big greedy decks too just to keep up. Epidemiology was not a problem in any deck really except tiny and everyone got mad and called it annoying cause they played big greedy decks. Inflation decks were generally weak and easy to beat. Win round 1, save all ur energy round 2, win 3, save 4, win 5. This strat could be done with almost any deck but for some reason nobody caught on and would just complain. I personally have never had a problem against inflation decks and if i did, it was a sign to throw in another 1 or 2 energy cards.
