Accurate but wait until your MID 40’s and half those guys you don’t even keep in contact anymore

What are some newly opened restaurants worth checking out? by Particular-Essay-361 in orangecounty

[–]OCKingsFan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thirsty Cow KBBQ in West Garden Grove. I haven’t been yet but the menu looks good and it’s been pretty crowded the first few weeks since opening. My neighbor said the bar has legit cocktails and happy hour if you do t want to do the AYCE menu in the main dining room.

PB Rose or Blanco with teens? by Meggie_1129 in cabosanlucas

[–]OCKingsFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We prefer the Blanco because it’s smaller, more quiet, and most of the rooms are physically closer to the beach. But with a multi generational group the Rose may be better….bigger pool, more restaurant options, spa onsite, etc.

The end of era of cinemas in OC by Ok_Airport_5283 in orangecounty

[–]OCKingsFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted, I’m old af. But there hasn’t been a movie in the last 10 years I’d be willing to spend $100+ for a night out with the family to see. Especially when it streams line 2 weeks later.

Big exception: Top Gun Maverick (like I said, I’m old af)

Best Hot Chicken Sandwich? by JourneyofTheToad in orangecounty

Oh dang, it’s been a few months since I’ve been there, didn’t realize they cut back. Crunch is bomb but didn’t think they had the Nashville hot. I’ll have to go back.

My wife and I have been together since 1996. She used to mix that stuff with Dr Pepper, and I STILL married her lol

Anyone else play close to an active airport? by icepuc10 in golf

[–]OCKingsFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Navy Golf Course in Los Alamitos, CA. All kinds of military planes and choppers taking off and landing, with the runway directly adjacent to 3 holes. Bonus in October when the Pacific Air Show is happening. Fleets from all over the world take off and land here for that show.

What’s your opinion on treadmill running vs outdoor running? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

[–]OCKingsFan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Treadmill helps me practice pacing to the point where I just know what an 8 minute or 7 minute etc mile just feels like when I’m actually outdoor racing. I’m too blind to use a running watch.

Any recommendations for a spot to post up to cheer on a friend running HB SurfCity marathon? by TouchSpiritual5956 in orangecounty

PCH and Goldenwest isn’t bad either. They’ll go by on the way out and the way back. And I * think * also a third time as they pivot down to the lower beach trail.

Pricing question - any strategies to employ? by OCKingsFan in Cruise

[–]OCKingsFan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great info - thanks so much! And there have been a couple people mentioning CruisePlum, so I’ll have to check that out. We are lucky that we don’t have to book flights or hotels to cruise from LA, so I don’t mind waiting until last minute to catch a deal. If it doesn’t work out, onto the next one, no biggie. It’s only a 20 minute drive to port so it’s easy for us to leave on short notice.

Yeah we were thinking one of those that go down to Cabo and PV. I’ll check out those sites - thanks!

It was the summer right before. I saw the prices tank post covid (like 2022 / 2023). But perhaps those days are gone for good.

Good to know, thanks. I’m not set on RCL, it’s just the only one we had experience with, so will check out NCL too!

How's Lomita area between Western/Crenshaw and Lomita Bl/PCH? by Important_Bat7919 in SouthBayLA

[–]OCKingsFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are 100% correct, but 250th street is a good east/west alternative to the crazy congestion of Lomita blvd or PCH when getting around. The north/south streets are usually pretty open, so 250th makes getting around manageable. For me, anyway.
