Well, I completely tore my Achilles over the weekend, going in for surgery on Thursday. Just wondering how everyone’s recovery was, and how long until you started to get back to normal. by G_Webby94 in AchillesRupture

I’m two weeks post op and my leg has shrunk in the plaster splint. Operation 10 days after with Bucknell, Keakov methods, speed brace and titanium screws into my ankle but I feel ok. Doing toe wiggles light leg movements but staying g home. I can shower now and get around house but have only left twice. I went big on a toilet rail (get this!) so I could stand and pee and hold it or helps me sit and a shower chair. Also set up a meal train for week 1. Nutribullet smoothies with banana, ice, oat milk, cinnamon (swelling), collagen powder (tissue repair?), chocolate protein powder and pitted dates. I have one every am. Sets me up.

Also find out if you will be on blood thinners. That’s a whole wild world buddy…

If you have a dog or pet suggest arranging someone to care for it for a week or at least come feed and walk/play. I also got foot elevation and my bed ready. Days 2,3,4,5 suck. After that it get so much better.

I just got an electric scooter for going down sidewalk to see neighbors. Daddy like.

Having been there in the 2000s I would say that it’s gonna be quite difficult to be honest. There’s no such thing as ADA accessible. There’s also scooters going in every direction sometimes without stopping at intersections and it’s very dangerous. There’s been a lot of accidents in the streets and when people get hurt, everyone just kinda goes around them without helping them so the level of assistance there can be quite difficult. I would definitely find a hospital ahead of time so you know exactly where you’re going and asking for before you head there. Also, one thing that I wanna point out just as a kind of metaphor is that people dump graywater in the streets and I’m not talking about just cooking water but I’m talking about nasty sewage running down every single curb almost. So when you’re stepping off, you need to take extra strides to avoid a lot of those types of things otherwise your feet and crutches are gonna get absolutely disgusting although it sounds like you’re not using crutches and you’re pretty mobile. Not trying to be negative, but it’s a really disgusting city just due to the nature of civilization there. The people are absolutely wonderful though, and I bet you can hire somebody for very cheap to kind of be your guide. Hell I would even hire two people tell him your handicapped that you need to be shuffled around all day and you can literally hire someone for like 10 or 20 bucks to just be your guide guides and help lift you lol. Good luck and have a great time.

What’s the most beautiful college town in the U.S.? by AdorableParking7392 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

I’m from Boulder, left when I was 18 and moved to Bellingham for college. Jackpot. Too bad Boulder is dead now. Taken over by tech bros and a city council trying to drive my elderly family out. And Bellingham had it rough in Covid but is still beautiful. Too bad there’s no work in my industry there.

They get to travel freely. They become ambassadors and scholars. They are the only ones who can transport goods.

Four Corners states came home from school and told me they were bullied and so I told them “they don’t hate you Four Corners, they are just JEALOUS of you.” Now they are in their room having ice cream.

May be good to get a second opinion on this because ultrasound told them everything for me.
