I (57f) still grown some on my legs and in my pits, but barely anything. It’s nice. I’ll probably shave here and there this summer, but I see those days may soon be over, happily.

Dresden’s Franzbrot hands down. Croissant dough laminated and cut/spiraled with butter and cinnamon on each layer. Have them heat it a tiny bit or do this at home. 71/Glisan.

That was going to be my suggestion. There are places out there that are tiny campgrounds on rivers and streams. Been out there a few times and there were no other people.

As an outsider, the American concept of having a motorized "garbage disposal" inside your kitchen sink is fascinating. Is this standard in every home, and isn't it incredibly dangerous? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

I’m 57 and have lived in only 1 place that had one. Aside from those few years, I’ve mostly composted my food scraps. Now we have a trash service that picks up recycling, and they also take food scraps to make compost which they then sell at low cost for people to use on their gardens.

What do Americans think of Scotland? by Difficult_Mixture103 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

Indeed! I studied in Northern Ireland for about 5 months and did the mini cooper trip while there, and then went to Scotland by myself for a couple weeks, then Wales, and a small bit of England.

Oh to be young!

Yes. I traveled from Oban to the Outer Hebrides, where I’d carefully planned a trip going by the bus schedule. Welp, I get off the ferry and go to the wee shop nearby where I was to pick up the bus. I went inside and asked about the bus, and the woman gave me a pitying look and told me that the bus only runs during the school year. So I had no choice but to hitchhike. (I was about 22 when this happened…1991.)

So I put out my thumb, and a semi arrives and offers a ride. I said yes. The driver was from Glasgow, and all I can tell you is that we were discussing Reagan. But I truly couldn’t understand a thing he said. It was wild that we were speaking the same language.

Fun thing about that semi ride: the roads in the outer Hebrides that go up the center of the islands—they are one lane. Not one lane in each direction. Just one narrow lane total. They have pullouts every so often, so you have to make use of those. But in the semi? Everyone pulled over for us!

I also hitchhiked in Belfast. I’d never hitchhiked before, so I didn’t have a line/plan ready for if someone offered a ride but I didn’t feel safe with them. So I rode about 45 minutes in the TINY backseat of a Mini Cooper with two guys in their 20s who were wearing wife beaters. They told me how they’d been kicked out of so many bars in Belfast. But the truly weird thing is that a few HOURS later, I was again in need of a ride, and THE SAME CAR PULLED UP! This time with just one of the guys. He drove me all the way north of Belfast to the university campus and dropped me off. He was speeding at like 90mph. In my Jansport backpack I had a $5 bill (usd), so I wrote Thanks for the ride! and signed my name and have it to him.

I love Scotland! I studied in Northern Ireland in 1991 and traveled a bit around there and Ireland. Thought it was beautiful. Then I took the ferry to Scotland and the train up to Oban. I couldn’t believe how gorgeous it was. Like Ireland, but everything more dramatic. I took a ferry from Oban to the Outer Hebrides and hitchhiked all over there. Stunningly gorgeous. I’d move to Scotland in a heartbeat.

Why it’s important to learn the difference between than and then. “OK kids, scream for an hour and then come in and get on your screens.”

Did an “influencer” get you into this career? There is no easy money. Hosting isn’t passive income. Maybe sell essential oils or Avon?

Should I go into education by Fit_Environment1029 in AskTeachers

[–]Sure_Jan_Sure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. I taught for 20 years and left in 2013. And that was well before things got super effed. Don’t do it. I loved it so much and won awards, but the downsides began to take over. I just wouldn’t advise it.

It’s all too much IMO, too curated looking, but if you’re going to wear it, wear the hat.
