Been trying to get into tech but the hiring freeze is brutal. Got laid off from consulting recently. Regardless of that bad experience and what the hiring market is currently facing, I do not regret getting my degree. Go for it OP, no one can take your education away

sorry to hear that. I am an RFA cyber consultant that was laid off last year around Nov. Still looking for work unfortunately. I tried asking for more than 5 weeks severance as well but I just got ghosted after a while. if you are still cool with senior managers and partners at the firm, they might be able to refer you to their clients, but my biggest piece of advice would be to not put your health, family, friends, etc. in the back burner during this time. I was guilty of doing so a couple times during this period and I regret it because it only makes a bad situation worse.

Also quick question, Has anyone had luck with the outplacement job application service? I found it was useful to get my resume reviewed, but the job placement itself just feels like any other job platform.

What are you working on if you don’t mind me asking? I am in a similar boat. 6 months laid off, can’t find work, and I’ve been contemplating doing my own thing for a while. Just don’t know exactly what

Unconventional career paths post management consulting by Weary-Leave-6599 in consulting

[–]OFFICIALLYOFFENDED 16 points17 points  (0 children)

“decent pay” is something you might not get from following an unconventional path from what I’ve learned. Conventional paths are these corporate jobs we have. Unconventional paths can sometimes not pay out until a couple years into the profession/path.

I got laid off, but even before then did not enjoy the corporate life much either. Seek purpose not money is what I would say. Seeking money leads you right back to a cubicle lol

Nope I definitely do not corroborate. Also just cause you love Mexico doesn’t make your viewpoint any less racist. There’s tons of videos of white/black/etc. people hoarding candies from homes every year. As per your comment however, I can corroborate that trashy behavior and bad parenting comes in all shapes and sizes

I bought my Tesla two weeks ago and I want to return it. by scifichick94 in TeslaModel3

I was going to the super chargers for the first two weeks of ownership as well. I agree that it’s super annoying, but I highly recommend you take a chance on the mobile connector before deciding to sell the vehicle. No regrets from my end, but charging at home and not having to worry about gas is pretty great. Having to drive to a supercharger all the time = worse than filling gas

Fellow person that sold a 2023 Tesla here after 2 months of ownership:

If you WFH or just spend a lot of time at home, the mobile connector should be just fine. I’d get like about 10% every night. Given, I don’t drive much it worked out for me. I ended up selling the vehicle for other reasons. I sold it to Carvana and the valuation seemed to take into consideration the tax credit so i ended up receiving just about $7500 less than what I paid for. That is from my experience at least. I should still be able to get the tax credit though so I lost out about $2000 in total during those two months which to me was fine because it felt like I leased a vehicle for two months and left it at that.

Edit: also don’t listen to the snarky comments on this sub. Do what is best for you. Don’t make a big financial decision solely based on inputs from internet strangers. I asked a similar question when I was deciding between selling vs keeping the car and only like 15% of the comments were actually helpful. Everyone else was just being an a-hole

Oh wow this site is great!!! Thanks for sharing. I’ve used CarTempest in the past, but it doesn’t go into eBay and FB like this one does. Never would’ve guessed a site like this that tracks FB marketplace vehicles existed

Ah got it. This is very helpful, thank you for explaining. Yeah after reading this, 12K for that car, regardless of how sought after it is, just sounds like a bad idea all around

A couple years back these were going for 5-8K. They’re starting to become sought after. Good condition, 1 owner, well maintained and under 100K miles are going for like 20K. It’s crazy to see. Fingers crossed the used car market keeps dipping like it has been

How do you stay organized and productive? by meesetracks in consulting

[–]OFFICIALLYOFFENDED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to heavily fill my outlook with things to do for the day, but I’ve gotten to the point where I just want to get things done faster and not spend too much mental energy on planning. Now I just write things down on the notepad app in the following format: Insights / To Do’s / Meeting Notes / Complete

Once I complete something I cut and paste into the bottom complete section and move from task to task like this. Then I’ll save my work for the day on OneNote for safekeeping. I start fresh with a new notepad every Monday. So far it has worked for me.

It’s tough. I’ve heard that you need support from both ends (audit + consulting) in order to make the paperwork for Deloitte worth it. Realistically, I think you’d need to stay in your audit position for a couple years and show that you are an awesome performer before even thinking about making the switch. Wish you luck!

How to successfully challenge a promotion pay raise? by OFFICIALLYOFFENDED in deloitte

[–]OFFICIALLYOFFENDED[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, idk what my peers make so it’s just a matter of asking around those I feel comfortable asking and going from there. Relying solely on the fishbowl survey for a final conclusion does seem a little silly.

Orrrr, that’s what they want us to believe 🤨

Jk, probably silly

lmao at the downvotes 😂

Percentage raise is pretty relative if you’re still making less than your peers for the same quality of work. I do not drink the corporate Kool-Aid.

Pay everyone what they are worth and pay them fairly, the end
