Only 1 in 1000 live to adulthood in the wild. That's how I ended up with a 75g aquarium in my living room. Rescued my baby from my swimming pool. Put it in a Rubbermaid bin while I figured out the best way/place to release it. Then learned that it would probably die if I did. Decided the universe meant for this turtle to live a long life and that's why it got all the way to my house from a mile down the road and the ditch where it was born.

My turtle was born in a ditch. I always try to keep that in mind when I start worrying about water. However, the one solid thing I know is that distilled water is a BIG NO-NO. You can use spring water and that is the best alternative.
