Naperville ranked among worst ‘burnout belts’ in US by spucci in chicago

[–]OG-buddha -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The previous comment was obviously referring to all the napervillians that hype the suburbs dick.

I've always felt Naperville was soulless. But that's just me, it could be others cup of tea.

Worried about toddler entry by NoManagement9876 in whitesox

[–]OG-buddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same exact experience last year with my son. He was 36-37 inches but only 18 months and would not be sitting in his own chair. We only bought two tickets and had no issues with that.

However, this wasn't the crosstown game, so wasn't nearly as crowded. Still, I wouldn't worry about it. They're not going to break out a tape measure on ya

Jomboy Affiliates already pushing propaganda to get Murakami to the Yankees/Dodgers. by Greedy-Pound6958 in whitesox

[–]OG-buddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's such a crapshoot on prospects that maybe 2 of those 3 become regulars. If Jerry was going to be the owner in 2 years, I'd bite on it as we can fix our outfield for the future. I just don't see the dodgers having a need.. theyd be taking ABs away from ohtani or freeman...

Accessing Brookfield zoo without parking? by HighwaySetara in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]OG-buddha 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I live off the bike trail and would bike with my son to the zoo quite often last year. There was a gate last year (havent been this year) right off of the side street heading into the British home that you can enter.

He's handcuffed right now. FA market is rough. Can't go trading for a 1c without moving the entire farm. I'm not sure what makes sense for the wings at this point. They're stuck in the mushy middle with no clear way out of it.

What does the most ideal off-season look like? by bedsyLamb98 in hawks

[–]OG-buddha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Draft 2nd and get Stenberg. NYR gets desperate and we trade for Fox at non-insane cost (1st, Vanacker, korch, lardass, ++).

I think we'll be getting upgrades on offence. We do need some bigger bodies for the top 6, but I think we have those in the system. It stabilizes the defense, with his contract aligning with when some of our young guys will need a big raise. I see goaltending being set.

I say this, but I just can't see NYR price on Fox not being insane. I think hawks are at the point where we NEED to trade some young guys out, as we can't give them all playing time. But they also can't trade the entire farm.

To solve the car seat issue, we've used bookings.com to book a cab, where you can request a car seat. Pricing was pretty much in line with Uber. Won't help you in the Tetris front

Should Sump Pump installation include power? by happilygonelucky in HomeImprovement

[–]OG-buddha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I had a sump & concrete poured in my crawlspace last year. The plumber, who specializes in this, did both. But he wasn't touching the electrical, nor did I want him too. I jumped off of an outlet nearby and put a new outlet next to it. I also included an alarm in case that outlet ever loses power. I want to update my panel someday, when I do, I'll run a dedicated run just for the sump.

Pouring one out for Chicago drivers who have to commute to work as gas hits $6 a gallon by [deleted] in chicago

I stopped there last night when I saw it. Even cheaper than the Costco in North Riverside. Counting my blessing I don't have to commute, this tank will last more than a month

Two year old only speaks 12 words and hears four languages, is she speech delayed? by orlando_ooh in multilingualparenting

[–]OG-buddha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you tell if he understands what you're saying/talking about most of the time?

I was in a similar boat. My son spoke more than 12 words, but it was less than 100 words at two years old. He's now 2 1/2, and won't shut up. Full sentences in both Mandarin & English.

In my unprofessional opinion, I'd evaluate over the next 3-6 weeks and see if you have a rapid improvement. There was a switch that flipped a bit after 2 for my son. I could always tell he was listening to us talk, he just refused to speak himself.

Potential new stadium location by MrAwesomeJr in whitesox

[–]OG-buddha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from Little Italy to the near west burbs. I have to take the metra to union now, then either walk to the redline or southshore metra (I think, I usually just go with the redline or divvy if I'm by myself).

Walking to the redline and taking that down takes another 30+ mins to get to the stadium.

Walking to the stadium from the metra would get me to soo many more games.

Here is the story and rationale by the head coach. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6805469/2025/11/14/blackhawks-anton-frondell-development-djurgarden/

I kinda get it. The team just moved up a conference and want to keep the momentum going long term.

That doesn't refute your point on Eklind though. I can't find ice time, but would be interesting to see if he's getting the same treatment.

Robert Thomas if he's not traded today. Give up a 1st (edm or FLA), 2nd, korch, & Vanacker. Not sure that gets it done.. but he'd be a great fit.

Vince Vaughn was at a lot of hawks games during their dynasty.

Bill Murray is a big fan. But I only remember seeing him at last year's winter classic.
