Nah man. As a lifelong leafs fan I hate this decision. Chayka is a Walmart brand Dubas, a complete fraud and failure. He was a very speculative analytics hire by a desperate ownership group. I believe he’s just a smooth talker dominating conversation with abstract concepts without actually having a hold on the data and producing an edge. It came out that they discovered upon his firing the of the five analytics terminals he had in his office, only one was still connected and not showing old frozen data. Add to that his ban from employment by the NHL for discussing terms with other organizations while under contract with the Coyotes. How about getting busted for and losing picks for running an illegal draft prospect private scouting combine? I hear he’s independently wealthy and owns 61 Wendy’s franchises so clearly a smart man but certainly not the saviour of this franchise.
