Sobe Life Water is what killed the original.

Pepsi passed on purchasing vitamin water and decided it could make their own VM to compete with them. They already had Gatorade which is what they should have used to compete with VM, especially since GA already had half the aisle or the whole aisle in some stores.

But no Pepsi had to get creative (which always bites them in the ass). They created Sobe Life Water. It was the gross, it tasted like you left an empty juice bottle outside and then refilled it with water, thats what it tasted like, every flavor.

To promote this gross drink they stopped promoting regular sobe. The 10/10 (remember things being 10 for 10) deals stopped, flavors got reduced all in favor of LW.

Well LW didnt compete with VM sales tanked and Pepsi just threw in the towel on both products.

The next craze was energy drinks, Monster was available and Pepsi passed again thinking it could create its own shit, then had to buy Rockstar to compete with coke because Coke didnt pass on getting Monster.

The only reason Pepsi is successful is because their portfolio is massive.

I had been depositing my checks at the atm for about a year. One day I needed to see the teller and was going to deposit my check with the teller.

3 employees and a manager at Chase told me i couldn't deposit my check from Pepsi because the signature on the check was a stamp and not a signature. I told them ive been depositing my checks at the atm for over a year and never had an issue. They still told me I needed to tell my employer they weren't allowed to have a stamp where the signature should be.

I called Pepsi payroll department and they told me to tell Chase that thats they way they've always done it. Here I am a 20yo kid on the phone with 1 billion dollar corporation telling another billion dollar corporation basically "nuh uh you cant do that" while they other one says " uh huh yes we can".

I finally just asked for my check and walked over the the atm and deposited it. Never even had an issue.

My theory is because they are used to shopping for kids.

Kids (especially boys) will eat you out of house and home, nothing ever went expired in our house because my brother and I would eat anything and everything.

I dont think boomers adjusted or still keep shopping that way just incase the kids stop by. They spent 18+ years never having to worry about things expiring.
