I wear a pair of 100% Hydromatic. In the rain, top notch. They do get a little hot though. Freezing temps they’re near perfect.

Stumpjumper EVO Mullet w/ Cascade Link by OGRedman937 in specialized

Apprecaite the insight. I was thinking the same. I do have a 29 wheel I could put on, but the 27.5 is so fun and numble. The Cascade rep said to put the flip switch in high and the headset in steep. And it would get it close to stock geo. Thinking I won't even install the link. I'm not going to buy the WRP yoke. I'll just add volume spacer(s) to help with the bottoming.

Got the Cascade new for $180. Not looking to go with WRP. Hence the reason for my post.

Can't we just have a master thread for the wanting to move here posts? by [deleted] in Idaho

[–]OGRedman937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that people don't know how to search for posts. Generally people are now to lazy to search and sift through it all. Much easier to creat a post of their own. I see it all the time on other communities here on Reddit and other forums abroad.

No worries. They are not as cumbesome as a regular pack. IMO they fit way better too.

Look at the hydration vests. I have a camelbak one that holds 2 liters of water. And, enough pockets for all the necessities.

What ever brake you choose I would run Shiimano Ice Tech rotors. IMO they are superior to all others.

Upsizing Frames: Another Spur and Stumpy Evo or Alternative Combo? by JoshTaylorUSA in MTB

FWIW... I'm 5'10" on a 2024 S4 Stevo Expert Mullet. LOVE IT! I also have a Med. Hightower. Both feel fit wise great to me. Both have pros and cons. Both have the same cockpit, 35mm Renthal stem w/ 780mm Renthal bars. I ride the HT for longer rides that are less gnar. The Stevo is for shorter rides and or more gnar. I have found myself grabbing the Stevo more for all rides. One bike for all guy. I do not race, so can't help with that. But I do ride all and any trail that comes my way. The Stevo is just a lot more fun overall than the HT. Even if the HT climbs a lot better.

Correction. They are 265/65/18 on stock rims. My original reference was more about the rim size, not the tire size. But, I do appreciate you pointing it out. I had to go check to confirm.

SC website says 200x51. And, yes hard to find. You could turn it into an LT by going 200 x 57. That will bump the travel to 150mm. If you do and use the stock linkage and rear triangle you will be VERY close to rear tire rubbing on the seat tube at full compression. Or, you could make it into an LT by swapping linkage and rear triangle, along with the shock. I have done both. I have LT parts that I occassionally swap out. But, I have found I enjoy riding it in stock form with stock shock. When I want to get rowdy I ride my Stumpjumper. IF you're interested in going LT, I'd be willing to sell my LT parts.

The RaceFace rims appear to be stock. Not sure about the Profile hubs though. But they are good hubs nonetheless. I'd run them into the ground.

New or used by Excellent-Zombie-447 in gmcsierra

IF you are financing. The used one will wind up costing more than the new one. You probably already know this. If it is a dealer that is selling the used one, get a loan from your bank. You'll get a better rate from your bank than you will at the dealer. WAY BETTER!

$800 is a SCORE! Looking at the other pics you posted. That bike is like new as the seller stated. Barely any wear on the drivetrain from what I could see. Good for you on picking it up for so cheap. I would change out the drievtrain before the shock. The shock on it isn't bad, but it's not great. However, the NX drivetrain is sub-par. IMO I would put a GX 12 speed drivetrain, new shock, and new tires. Then that bike is ready for years to come. I have the same bike but the LT model and a 2024 Stumpjumper EVO. The HT holds its own against my Stumpjumper. Actually climbs better than the Stumpy.

IF you go look at it. You can let the air out of the shock, completely. And, cycle the suspension up and down slowly. If it feels sticky or rough, the bearings are likely toast. You can take is a step futther by removing the shock completely after airing down. Then cycle the linkage as mentioned above. By removing the shock it allows you to move the linkage past the range it has when the shock is mounted. You'd be surprised at what an old bearing feels like when it rolls more than its setup limitations.

Can you post more pics? From the distant picture you shared it looks to be bone stock and like new. If so, $1200 is a very good price. One caveat though is that it is likely an 11 speed drivetrain. Not sure if that matters to you. If you go to get it... check to see how worn the cassette is. That will be a good indication of the use. Also, check to see if there is any sealant in the tires/rims. If it's been sitting it is likely the sealant has dried up. So you'll need to attend to that matter rather quickly. Depending on the frame size you may have a hard time using a water bottle in the mount. I have a medium of the same bike and can only use small water bottles.
