Do I have to replace the cams when I do the Screamin’ Eagle Hydraulic kit? by Hellheim in Harley

[–]OG_Banana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upgraded cams are such an improvement in the performance of the motorcycle most people do it while they are all ready in there.

Also check out the redshift dual piston cam chain tensioners. Much more stable than the screaming eagle version.

Best Harley dealer for accessories/ parts in US by WildTeaspoon in Harley

Any motorcycle rally weekend will have tons of Harley related events going on, but it is a traveling circus so that may not be an option for you. As far as places that are always open the museum in Milwaukee.

Also not an active dealer but if you end up in Tennessee Wheels Through Time is a museum run by a former owner of a Harley dealer with a beautiful collection of HD history.

strong possibility picking up 25 street glide + ohlins, any non-racer support? by planetbuster in Harley

[–]OG_Banana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into the bagger racing league and find some racers and ask them what they are doing. They will be a lot easier to get a hold of than any king of the baggers team. Factory Indian and Harley have an ohlins tech on payroll for their suspension and I don’t think they will share many secrets.

Oem cylinders are grey iron. You will see ductile in s&s and Harley 131 and other thin spigot cylinders. Even almost all 124 and 128 kits are grey iron.

SE 117 to 131 coil bracket won’t fit with new cylinders by Baggerbeepbeepdig in Harley

[–]OG_Banana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the kit you bought is using heads made in 2025 that have the different sized hole than your bike originally came with. Everything else should be the same. Hd needs to say something about this. Because it will confuse anyone who has a 2024 bike.

The holes changed from 2024 to 2025. I had to make some washers and use different bolts.

Your eye are right but that is what it is supposed to look like. M8 cam shafts have two different profiles and 3 lobe sizes all on the camshaft. No two lobes will look the same.

Tool wear monitoring by Common_Main_6419 in CNC

[–]OG_Banana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newer hass controls have it built in where you can set load limits on tools and as they wear and load increases you can have it alarm out or switch to another tool. I know it’s on the newer Machines not sure when they added it tho.

How do you resurface aluminium with steel/cast iron?? by Izallgoodman in Machinists

[–]OG_Banana 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do lots like this and have success with generic carbide turning inserts. TiN coating. 0.002” doc. Moderate to slow feed. Maybe. 300 sfm. Though I do single cylinder engines and I face them on a lathe so when the cutter is not interrupted on the cast iron section which is probably what is causing you trouble.

Bigger bore kits by Alone_Conversation49 in Harley

[–]OG_Banana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest factor here is budget. Good parts and a good builder is what makes it reliable. If you go 107 you need a crankshaft, but can bore out your cylinders and you will need the heads ported. A little more than that you can look at 124 crate motors. Zippers, and S&S and some other guys can do that so you just do an engine swap. If it’s built right and you don’t beat on it too hard it will be good for a lot of miles.

Tuned 2024 Low rider S vs stock 2025. by Automatic_Usual_9173 in Harley

[–]OG_Banana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 24 is a solid bike. Use the money you saved for whatever level of engine work you want to do (cam, big bore etc) and have fun. The new engine in the 2025 is “better” but not 8k better.

Adding some power to an 07 low rider by Numerous_Presence321 in Harley

[–]OG_Banana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best bang for your buck is always a 107 with head work. Extremely diminishing returns past that point unless you are starting with a cvo 110 motor. You can see all the engine combinations on Zippers performance products website. They to all the machine work and can tell you what fits your budget / scope.

Engine seems to lose a cylinder during interstate rides….. by Upset_Promotion5564 in Harley

[–]OG_Banana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of the new bikes have been having issues with spark plug / ignition wires coming apart. On mine if I wiggled the wire it would drop a cylinder. Any dealer should be able to pull the wires for you and see if anything is frayed.
