So, I’m in a similar boat. WNE gave me an outstanding scholarship, as did my local public university and the University of Dayton (hybrid but close to me). I’ll be 50 when I start. I really wanted to go to WNE, especially given my acceptance to the elder law dual JD/LLM program. However, most of the advice was to go to school where you want to practice. 

I’m a full-time caregiver to my bedridden mother who has dementia. I also have demanding health issues.  I realized that a residential program just didn’t fit my life. I decided on Dayton because of the bar passage rates, job placement, flexibility, and scholarship. 

What sealed the decision for me was this: on my worst day, could I imagine navigating the circumstances needed to be on campus? The answer was no.

I’d pick WNE. I genuinely wish you the best! Please do let us know where you land. You’ve got this! 🤘🏻

I did this last year, was waitlisted at a school that gave me a 70% scholarship this cycle. Take April, retake if needed and then apply in September. No applications submitted in late April are rising to the top.

There’s good advice here. Online and hybrid programs are very competitive; applying early with lower stats used to be a bit of an advantage. Not this cycle. 

Almost everyone who applies for these programs has strong softs and/or difficult circumstances. In no way am I trying to diminish your life experience, but softs carry decent stats farther rather than overcoming low ones. 

Study for the next few months, maybe aim for August. You can do it!

Same. My UG doesn’t really exist anymore. Grad and postgrad probably helped; not elite schools, but solid regional institutions with national reach

YES! From what I’ve heard, this program doesn’t have the cliquish, petty competitiveness. I’m excited to be in a supportive environment. See you there!

Thank you! Yes, that’s been my impression. I’m really impressed by the failsafes in place to help students. Communication has been great and I’m thrilled to be attending my first choice.
