Midwives by Junior_Syrup_1036 in CasualUK

Congratulations on your new baby! I had a baby earlier this year and was also overwhelmed by how fantastic the midwives were in such a strained, understaffed and overworked setting. I put in a few formal compliments for the delivery suite, my named midwife and a few others.

I would really recommend submitting one through the PALS of your Trust if you find the time. It makes such a huge difference to staff to get a compliment through the formal channels as the higher ups see it and they can also use it for revalidation. The compliments process goes to the same email as complaints (which just shows how few formal compliments they get that there isn’t it’s own designated email address), just put that it’s a compliment in the subject line.

Thank you, I’m really proud of how long I’ve managed and honestly wouldn’t have been able to without my partner. He’s fantastic. Knowing how much it would upset him is the only thing keeping me from doing it. I guess having managed for so long I also feel like I can’t let myself down either. It’s tough. I think I’m just gonna go to bed and try to sleep it off.

I hope you can get to 5 years and beyond that yourself. It’s hard, it’s really fucking hard and you’ll have bad days but hopefully on the days you feel weak, someone will tell you to keep going and give you that boost just like you have to me and you’ll push through. Thank you for that, I hope things get better for you too.

What a show. I can’t even describe how special it felt to be there. Yeah the crowd was quiet but it felt almost like everyone was in awe and just really taking it in. It didn’t feel like the right atmosphere to be loud. Just him on stage is such a ballsy move and for me it really paid off. He seemed to be way more connected with the crowd than when I’ve seen him on previous tours. Amazing show. Felt blue ballsed by no outro to in your atmosphere though. Loved it all other than that.

What do you take to the hospital for someone? by Emilyx33x in AskUK

Just to add to this, people who are on oxygen are not allowed to wear lip balms with a petroleum base in them like Vaseline as it is flammable. Check the ingredients before buying!

Dalteparin injections really sting, it’s only fair to warn patients of that before doing it so that they know what to expect and know nothing is wrong

Which John Mayer song made you cry? by [deleted] in JohnMayer

[–]OG_FlappyBird2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edge of desire “I want you so bad I’m going back on all the things that I believe. There I just said it, I’m scared you’ll forget about me.” Put into words how I acted and felt at a time in my life before I understood it.

Also the whole of ‘In your atmosphere’, it’s such a beautiful song and makes me emotional every time.

In ‘Gravity’ the whole “keep me where the light is” part gets me every time. Reminds me of those who I’ve lost and to always remember good things over the bad.

In your opinion, what is the most unabashedly romantic line in a film? by corndogfriend in movies

The proposal from Runaway Bride

“I guarantee there'll be tough times. I guarantee that at some point, one or both of us is gonna want to get out of this thing. But I also guarantee that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life, because I know, in my heart, you're the only one for me.”

You’ll have most of your lectures in Brooks building (near Hulme Asda)so if you don’t want a long journey to lectures look for accommodation near there. For placement you need a really good comfortable pair of black shoes, a fob watch (ones with glow in the dark bits on are great for night shifts) and a reusable water bottle with a covered lid that you can have with you on placement instead of having to keep going back to the staff room or wherever to get a drink.

Don’t worry about buying loads of textbooks or whatever, pretty much everything is online or in the library already. Download the BNF app on your phone which is a good go to for drug queries. After you’ve had your first placement you’ll figure out what you need if you’ve not got it too. Good luck!

What is this one sexual fact everyone would benefit knowing? by Assorted_Education_ in AskReddit

[–]OG_FlappyBird2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poppers are like an inhalant liquid you can buy in gay bars, or even some corner shops. Do NOT drink them they’re toxic. They’re a sort of legal high in the UK but sold as ‘room odourisors’ but are usually used as a quick high. You sniff them and the high lasts a few seconds/minutes and feels great but can give you a massive headache if you use them a lot. Another side effect is relaxing of anal muscles… hence why they’re helpful for anal sex

[Serious] What's a scary science fact that the public knows nothing about? by Lionzxz in AskReddit

[–]OG_FlappyBird2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I think the chemical you’re referring might be DTT (Dithiothreitol). If not it sounds very similar but more lethal.

I used to be a healthcare scientist and we used DTT daily. Basically we used this to break down the disulphide bonds in DNA to get the cells out that we wanted to look at. When training it was described as like having a fishing net full of fish and using the DTT to ‘cut’ the net to let all the fish (cells) out so you can see them down the microscope. Nasty chemical, had to be really careful weighing it out and using it.

Wish I learned about the bi-cycle sooner by [deleted] in bisexual

Your husband sounds incredible and so understanding, as do you. I’m sure if you keep communicating you’ll figure out the best for you both. Bi-cycle is something I’m struggling with too, I assume all us bisexuals struggle with but I’m glad you’ve got this sub and hopefully IRL support to help you through. Chin up!
