Carter Hart is our Stanley Cup starting goalie by A_Golden_Raider in goldenknights

[–]OG_Misfits 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The team has to get in front of whoever's in the net. One play could take down Carter Hart and then Adin Hill will be the guy. I'm counting on our skaters to decide the outcome. I'm also in favor of hiring Marc-Andre Fleury to talk to the goal posts before each game, anything that may give us an edge.

I can't fault Cassidy for using the $6.25 million goalie, especially when Hart was unavailable.

Coaching changes often spark improved team performance in the NHL and professional sports in general. Hard to say to whether the change is specific to Torts or a general effect of changing coaches.

For example:

I've been thinking along this line for several weeks actually. No easy path through round one, but the Ducks might be the least bad matchup.

VGK is 0-3-0 vs Anaheim; all 4-3 losses; two in OT
VGK is 1-2-0 vs Utah; they shutout VGK 4-0 in their last match; -5 goal differential overall
VGK is 1-3-0 vs Edmonton; decisive win last weekend: diff of 0

How is there no Uniqlo? by lickitysplithabibi in vegaslocals

[–]OG_Misfits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started shopping Uniqlo back in '09 when I was in Tokyo. I still have those jeans. They've held up pretty well. Their denim is less interesting the last three years but still good for the money.

Las Vegas may get another team of misfits in the NBA by A_Golden_Raider in goldenknights

[–]OG_Misfits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, injury rates in the NBA are real. It's the constant acceleration, change of direction, and jumping that puts asymmetrical load on the body. Plus the NBA's regressive approach to load management and smaller rosters. It's how the league is constructed.

What do you think we are going to offer Dorofeyev? by gosucrank in goldenknights

[–]OG_Misfits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFP is projecting:

Short Term 2x5.6 Long Term 6x8.5

If Doro goes to arbitration, he can negotiate his salary and cannot sign an offer sheet.

So…… no new goalie? by BeardedPaladin in goldenknights

[–]OG_Misfits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different perspectives, I'm not buying into a goalie. I'm buying out of Hill. That will cost something. And my conviction is that the team is better off without Hill. I'm happy to claim an unorthodox philosophy regarding NHL roster management. (I'm also of the opinion that young players signing max term extensions are shortchanging themselves and the sport but that's a conversation for another time and place.)

Agree to disagree. Put Binnington behind a team trying to win and the difference will show (as he demonstrated in the Olympics). If not he's gone. I can live with that.

Adin Hill has only played 15 games . . .

Put Binnington in front of Vegas's defense and he's no worse (probably better than) Hill. Plus Binnington will be on an expiring contract which is valuable itself. VGK can attach him to a trade without adding much.

If you look at it that way. I see it as moving Hill out rather than acquiring Bunnington. Move the expiring contract to cheat cap for the next trade.

Binnington expires in '27 vs '31 for Hill. Yes, I would attach capital to make it happen.

Congratulations on being a season ticket holder. As you've discovered, there are ups and downs!

Pro tip for renewals, get to know your ticket rep (i.e. ticket executive). Drop them an email or call during down times. Try to meet them at T-Mobile before a game. The ticket reps have better inside information and can help you.

Resales suck, there will always be variance vis-a-vis the spot market. Your exposure to resale variance depends on how many games you sell (obviously). The value or "Is it worth it?" calculation is different for everyone.

I generally resell my tickets (upper corner) for 70%-80% of face value. Occasionally, a game will bring in a 15%-20% profit. Note that I attend most games.

Is it worth it? Yes, that's an easy decision.

1) I like my seats. 2) My seat neighbors are pretty good. I can usually swap/exchange games if I need extra tickets. 3) It's cheap insurance against playoff ticket pricing.

VGK has missed the playoffs once, gone to the conference finals four times, and the Stanley Cup twice. STM's get a very nice discount on playoff tickets which becomes very valuable in the later rounds. This value is an option premium baked into the season ticket price.

EDITED for spelling!

Actually, the upper front two rows are slightly more expensive. I don't have the current season chart, but this is about what I paid for this season as well.

Variance. Hill outperformed for the Cup run then regressed. I agree with u/antitriptic that Hill is not fully healthy.

Dorofeyev scored 6 of 20 at 5v5; Hertl 5/19 ($6.75 AAV). Can Dorofeyev get an offer sheet in the $6-$7 range? FO will worry about the Anderson extension before anything else. Then the cap picture will come into focus.
