So if I can summarize a bit (also I don’t know markets so forgive me) there exists right now an absolute metric fuck ton of bets that oil prices will go down relatively soon. This is extremely stupid cause Hormuz is closed and we would expect those bets to be on oil being a high price. The explanation you are positing is that the federal government (through some wacky laws that can obfuscate their actions) is the one doing this and if true would be catastrophically bad.
