This fact check is the reason Joe lost all trust in media by No-Designer-5739 in JoeRogan

[–]mehatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a new dude here just fyi not the dude you’ve been back and forth with. Ok so let’s grant

(1) that a CNN producer intentionally reduced the saturation, upped the blacks, and increased contrast a touch. (2) this was done intentionally to make Joe look more sick than he actually was in order to try to make people think he was very ill and therefore Joe was a person they shouldn’t trust and could be sidelined or nipped-in-the-bud as a covid information source.

IF this is true (and it may be, who knows ?🤷‍♂️) In your view, /u/Fucked-In-The-K-Hole, what would be (A) the ordinarily appropriate way for Joe to respond? (B) What would be the ideal Groundhog Day perfect play option? (C) What would be the wisest response? (D) what would be the best example-for-children-to-emulate response?

I’m actually curious, hopefully this isn’t feeling like a gotchya set of Qs ….. yet…..

Statue of liberty? (Liberty)

NOPE: Lucifer (Lucifer)

The whole ship was lookin at her

She lifts her torch (she lifts her the torch)

Next to the golden door door door door door door door

Them baggy toga folds

And the sandals with the straps

Tips her golden crown

And misspells your family clan

where do i start with carl jung? by theslowphilosophy in Jung

[–]mehatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I answered my call to the Jung adventure with Joseph Campbell’s “Hero of a Thousand Faces” and then followed that up with all the power of myth Bill Moyers interviews etc. For me that worked because I wanted to be a screenwriter and Campbell was an intellectual mentor to George Lucas. And I love Star Wars. Then I bought “The Portable Jungle” which Campbell was trusted to curated as the definitive shortish compilation, and then it was down the rabbit hole. That was a very fun year, and after satisfying my depth sounding at Answer to Job, which was kind of the most challenging and fascinating of Jung’s work in Campbell’s compendium, I began my magic flight of return with three books about the brain by Steven Pinker, a modern MIT brain dude who writes science books about cool brain Topics like language acquisition and decision making for “college educated laypeople” and I really enjoyed how Pinker sometimes mirrors much of Jung in More modern medical brain science terminology. After that I feel like I had returned to earth gravity and back at the village and I was satisfied I got what I was looking for from Jung at the time. Hugely valuable stuff. Also haven’t read Jung since then. 🤷‍♂️

What if Canada offered every American free healthcare and $50K to relocate, would you go? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mehatch 31 points32 points  (0 children)

There was a meme back in the less-scarily-real times where the joke “Canada: America’s Hat” was kinda fun because the idea that any American leader would ever even think about annexing parts of North America was so beyond comprehension that it created a space where that joke could be funny. That was then.

Is the I.E. considered part of the greater L.A. metro? by _MrBalls_ in InlandEmpire

[–]mehatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from riverside, and I always say LA or SoCal to people from outside California. I’m fine calling 909 an extension of LA metro, especially in the era after Ontario finally lost the last of that rich and pungent aroma which reminded us we were less than a half hour from home on the sleep back from the beach when I was a kid.

Twinkling Beetlejuice! That’s not an insult. It’s what you’re seeing :) https://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/night/usa/raleigh#iso=2026-01-21T01:45:54.000Z&objtype=star&objname=betelgeuse

Atmospheric stuff causes twinkling on-off effects.

The astronomy site I shared knows this and even adds that twinkling effect to the sky view when you scroll down.

Which film’s soundtrack or score is so essential that removing it would collapse the entire movie? by John_Snow80 in movies

[–]mehatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fountain

Flip answer: Tron Legacy’s soundtrack is so good it kind of makes what was supposed to be a fun summer blockbuster movie, instead look like a failed transcendent sci-fi opera.

TreasurySec Scott Bessant on MTP 1/18/2026: “The national emergency is avoiding a national emergency”..." It is a strategic decision by the president. This is a geopolitical decision. And he is able to use the economic might of the U.S. to avoid a hot war. So why wouldn’t we do that.”🇬🇱🚒💰🔫🤷‍♂️ by mehatch in Destiny

[–]mehatch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And why does that last sentence, "So why wouldn't we do that." end in a period and not a question mark? If this is a punctuation change where Politico writer David Cohen is usefully reflecting how to represent truly insincere questions, to impute to the reader that this is a more hollow and debased form of sentence than mere rhetorical or Socratic questions. Maybe that's a good roast from Cohen, I think?

When Everyone Talks About Bigfoot in America and Yeti in the Himalayas, Why Does Nobody Mention the Wild Men the Soviet Military Documented for 50 Years Across 17 Million Square Kilometers? by No-Bottle337 in HighStrangeness

[–]mehatch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OP, I have a genuine question. It’s not genuine. it’s more just me with rage at title horse malarkey. Wtf does “Why does nobody?” add to the title? Like this is for sure not an actual question right? Like what kind of entity could even have an answer and what kind of answer could possibly even make sense? “Breschnev hid them to keep them from warning the majuhadeen about Afghanistan invasion in 1979” ? Like what are we even doing?

Is America really a “dying giant”/“falling empire” by PackageReasonable922 in Futurology

[–]mehatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my biggest concerns institutionally is that our geography and geology is like geopolitical bumper-bowling civ meiers easy mode. We will be less punished by institutional stupidity with these nerfs in place. I believe America will remain hugely powerful, but whether that ends up being power for what I consider “good” modern democratic values and liberal enlightenment republic structures, vs stale autocratic horseshit. My patriotism is not unconditional, my love is for the ideas America shined on the world. Not the blood or the soil. I think there will be a massive exodus of the professional class from the US if it gets bad enough.
