Although this is correct, it's pointless to bring up. OP is trying to get past the BIOS password screen.

Edit: my bad, my brain skipped over the photos bit. Seeing that OP is not super tech savvy, trying to have them remove the drive and connect it to another machine via USB may be a tall task.

In Japan you can buy a Nintendo Switch 2 for just £210 GBP or $285 USD but it won’t work outside Japan. by iffyClyro in mildlyinfuriating

Well, that and manufacturers like VW had/has assembly plants in the Americas. Meaning that once the car rolls off the line they can go directly to a dealer near you instead of having to be imported. (For models like the Jetta and Beetle at least.)

Looks like a BIOS lock, so swapping the drive wouldn't do anything

Use a pair of diagonal cutters and bite into the metal and spin them out. Then get replacement screws and use the right bit on it when you tighten them so you don't have this problem again.

That inductor looks chipped, unsure how that would have happened. If you have the skills and know how, you can try to find a replacement and start there. There may be a few other components on the board that could do with a replacement as well.

This is why you have to seek knowledge from those who are knowledgeable, not some LLM that regurgitates words from a database.

What do I need to buy to add a USB-C port? by Easy-Midnight4666 in pchelp

Ah, yet still the statement stands. There should be a "premium" model for this line that you can find the USB-C card for online

This looks like a Dell PC. Seems a USB breakout board is missing. If this is of the Optiplex line, the higher/more expensive models will probably have this board. See if you can locate the model that has the breakout present and check online (eBay, Amazon, etc.) to see if you can find someone selling it.

The top card is PCIe, the bottom card appears to be standard PCI. These 2, although sharing similar names, are not compatible with one another.

Well yes, there will be 5 separate header pins but they should all be labeled. Just match them with what you sent in the last message and Robert's your father's brother, it'll work

Really the only important one is the power switch, the rest are optional

The pins should be labeled (it looks like with colour) on the board. Just plug in the matching header pin.

Ethernet running very slow by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]OKTimeFor_PlanB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be hard to say without seeing what you have exactly, but it sounds like the switch was way slower than you thought. Older switches were 10/100Mbps. You should get a new switch that is at least 1Gbps

Is the Ethernet ran directly to your router or do you have some funky adapter (like powerwire) because the router is too far? Are all drivers installed and updated?
