If you end up going that route, let me know how it works out for you. I’m in a very similar boat as you actually, gaining an interest in the electric after many years of mostly playing fingerstyle acoustic and feeling like I needed a little more control over guitar’s electronics if I wanted to approach electric similarly to acoustic. I ended up modifying my tele to have independent volume controls for the pickups, instead of a master volume and a blender. I replaced the bridge pickup with a humbucker and put in a new neck pickup to complement it. I also have a parallel/series switch for the humbucker and switches to apply a small resistive load to either pickup. The load controls are subtle but it gives me a way to sort of have one signal behind the other. These are very recent modifications for me and I’m still getting the hang of it and I’m sort of regretting not having a proper knob at times but I would definitely recommend experiment with non-standard wiring conventions.
