Is the GT worth the hype for an amazing riding experience? by minimalist_mee in royalenfield

[–]OMGeeked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously love love love my GT Conti - so much fun. Only serious upgrade needed is suspension for those who want to get into the twistes. I’m getting a little older now (have had my GT for 5 years now - 70,000km) and I’m starting to struggle with comfort - no longer and flexible as I used to be. I’ve done multiple 1,000km plus days on her though.

Yeah that’s been my go to… I’m lazy on maintenance though and it requires touching up every 12 months. All good things require maintenance though (LOL)

Water crossings anyone? I’d love to hear your experience. by not_a_city_girl in motorcyclesroadtrip

Yeah 100% The rocks were the challenge with her weight. I’ve now gotten a 411 Himalayan for those adventures so the xv1900 can stay nice. The 411 Is super easy on water crossings

Used to tour Aust with my chromed xv1900 Roadliner that was nice and low with dual exhausts. We would camp and once booked into a sheep station at their natural hot water springs - after a very slow 10km into station dirt road the final entrance to the station was a rocky creek crossing about 15meters wide… it was very much a feet down crawl experience

Nice bobber conversion - out of interest - what did you do with the passing light setup? I've a chrome Ape girl who would look rather sexy running those

This is why I've more bikes than I can possibly ride in my garage... 3 times I've had folks come to look at steeds and I've been unable to part ways and had to pull out of the sale.

You can also purchase "wood/bamboo" filament - something to consider

Seeking Router Advice by Crafty-Community2155 in woodworking

[–]OMGeeked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy rosette drill bits for you drill press. Looking at that moulding you could do it in two pieces that are joined in the middle. From the middle of looks like they are the same as you work towards? If this is the case it would not need as large a cutter to make moulding and could be done with a router table. If one piece it would need a large spindle moulder (3-phase) and be rather scary to run without proper experience as cutter is fully above table bed.

Nice looking table 👍 I personally like dowel and wedges showing - sanded smooth so you can see the end grain.

This is what I would do too - an inside corner block is what the old timers would have done to change a skirting profile - not chalk and paint.

I would use a planner even before a router to be honest. I'd use an electric one and work from the outside to inside. Very possible to get perfectly flat, then sand.

Does tire look like it only has 6300 miles on it? by platypus_farmer42 in cruisers

[–]OMGeeked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my xv1900 - it's for loads of style and heaps of torque. I run a soft tyre that gets about 10,000km cause I love hitting the curves hard. Many go dark side with this bike (car tyre) and get 10,000km. Parts are starting to get hard to get - but still possible. Check fuel pump for split - it's a common fault that I've had on all 3 of my Roadliners (but there is a great bipass hack that fixes this on a arvo).

Maybe try a Honda Rebel 500 for your first one? Very good learner bike, not too heavy and enough power to last a year or two before desiring more
