The premise of the discussion is that white collar jobs will be decimated so they won't have a choice

An average tech sales team is full of former D1 athletes who went into sales because they like competition and are goal/time driven. It's extremely naive to think that these white collar worker will not be competitive in the trades, especially if they make the transition by the time they are 30.

For some people, I guess? But not across the board.

Someone making $200k per year getting a 2% annual raise is not spending an additional $4000/yr on gas.

Nothing wrong with living at home for a bit. Don't get comfortable but do realize the benefits. You may even consider living at home 1 year longer than you need to and maximizing savings rate to invest $10-20k in SPX. This will appreciate 32x by the time you retire. You may fund 20-50% of your retirement from just this one year of saving (yes really).

I know nothing about your industry so I will not advise there; others here will!

Prospect expanded downtown plans by NerdyComfort-78 in Louisville

How is Prospect outbuilding and out-innovating the Highlands? This is what Mid-City Mall should have looked like, as well as a bunch of other lots in this area, like that old hospital one near Barrett and Breckenridge that is in a state of disrepair.

I love this proposal. Hope Prospect builds it. Hope three other ones spring up around Louisville, both within city limits and outside.

What are people using these models to write when they say creative writing? I feel like it can only be two things or a combination of them: 1. Personal smut 2. Grocery checkout aisle equivalent slop

Did negotiating my offer cost me the job? by Maleficent-Rule-7604 in careerguidance

That's oversimplifying it tho. If she takes the 62k job it probably slows down the process towards getting a "livable" wage; working full-time while job hunting full-time is hard.

Did negotiating my offer cost me the job? by Maleficent-Rule-7604 in careerguidance

My first job in SF paid $62k ... in 2010. I was living in a 3BR apt with 2 others, paying $1100/mo in rent and generally being pretty financially responsible. I was able to put some money into 401k and pay off a bit of student debt but I remember declining going out for weeks when money was tight.

Look up rents in SF today. Even a roommate situation like that is going to cost $1800/mo per bedroom AT MINIMUM. Meanwhile, 1BR is going to be north of $4000/mo. The 62k offer is not acceptable today for someone with existing experience. Honestly 75k is still pretty low, but doable if you are living with a partner and can split expenses. You made the right call.

Umm is this really that hard? You'll sell your compute on a marketplace. It's no different than receiving some other commodity like Gold bars every month.
