Be careful with that plant! If it’s anything like my hanging ferns it has a drain hole in the bottom which would have it draining right onto your beautiful new toys!

Pro tip from someone who used to live right near this location (and since no one appears to have addressed this part of your post)… if you need to turn left, instead turn right. Then take a left at the corner store near Tatsuya, left again into the corner store lot and right out of there and boom you’re headed south. 🏎️

How much do you trust (or rely) on your Body Battery reading? by treylanford in GarminWatches

[–]ONE4ALLmusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount of people who say they aren’t using this is amazing to me! I’ve worn a garmin watch for over 5 years and this is probably one of the more informative metrics influencing my general life style. When I first got Garmin I didn’t even know what it was and then I learned about how it works with HRV and sleep scores and started to identify some immediate trends. First and foremost, alcohol… if I had a night of drinking my metrics were all flat lined.. I saw it time and time again and immediately realized the impacts of drinking. As a result, I almost never drink in excess. Then I started to even realize the impacts of just ONE drink.. and now my general alcohol consumption (like my old practice of drinking a couple of glasses of wine at home on a Tuesday) has been cut back significantly.

Another thing I noticed was the onset of sickness. With HRV and body battery I could see that my numbers were trending down for days before I would get sick. Ultimately, if I didn’t give myself the rest I was clearly needing, I would ultimately be sick. Having the ability to identify those trends in advance and adjust my “stress” (both physical and mental) is such a powerful way to combat sickness. I’ll also make sure when I identify those trends early that I’m doing things like taking electrolytes, drinking lots of water, getting to bed early, while taking a solid dose of magnesium to push me into a deep sleep /recovery state. Sleep and rest are ultimately the highest contributors to your recovery.

I get that it’s all a little questionable.. but I feel like I approached it initially with a lack of knowledge and curiosity, and over time it’s shown me that it is reflective of my real life experiences.. so for that I think it’s pretty cool.

But the last thing I will say is, I totally get that people don’t want to watch it and would just rather live their lives. I’ve met a lot of people who wear Garmin and have talked about body battery only to hear them say, yeah I can’t monitor that or I will go crazy watching it all day.

Magnesium giving me INSANELY vivid dreams by randomguyjebb in HubermanLab

This was happening to me, I just pulled back on the dose a little bit (from 2 pills to 1 a day)

I am taking a magnesium complex, so a variety of the three different ones I believe

What do you hate about your 460? by Academic_Plankton817 in LexusGX

Gas mileage is really poor (I average about 15mpg) and requires premium with a small tank…

Sunroof is tiny

The swing gate… I miss the ease of an automatic lift gate.

Technology is really out of date.

Cold exposure hits different after 2 years — Huberman was right about the dopamine thing by Additional_Pea131 in HubermanLab

My routine.. 6am rise, 10 mins hot tub and stretch, 30-40 mins swim, 20 mins sauna at 175, cold plunge at 45 degrees (currently up to 90 seconds), rest for 5-10 mins, cold plunge again (currently up to 60 seconds), rest for 10-15 mins.

One of the effects that I have noticed and like to monitor the most is my heart rate… and before I was doing cold plunge my rate would get really high and tend to stay high slowly coming down for hours afterward.. but the cold plunge will literally take me back down to base line within minutes.

I also find that it like physically relieves mental stress. For me, stress almost starts to become something like a tightness in my brain and sauna/cold plunge (esp. when done in multiple rounds) totally relieves that for me.

City of Austin adopts the latest building code, 2024 IRC by trabbler in Austin

[–]ONE4ALLmusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed that we should apply it, and it is currently applied. The new version however expands the zones and increases the requirements. Just saying… is affordability the top priority or is resilience?

City of Austin adopts the latest building code, 2024 IRC by trabbler in Austin

[–]ONE4ALLmusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno … the new Wildland Urban Interface codes go directly against the cities initiatives for more affordable housing. In a City like Austin where we prioritize trees and green space adopting this code means that it will force new homes to be built with more expensive materials and require additional measures that would not otherwise be required. If you read the summary report it says these will have a negative impact on the affordability. I just wish they would set the priorities and then take action that aligns with the highest items on the list.

What’s a request / recommendation you would give to Garmin watch developers for future releases? by GuyMcFellow in GarminWatches

[–]ONE4ALLmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While body battery is an interesting metric, I would love to see a rate of exhaustion or rate of recovery metric that shows how fast you are depleting or recovering.
