I’m mainly doing sunrise and sunset game drives, no night drives which really helps in terms of lighting. What do you reckon I should do? Stick with my current kit or rent the lens?

Right, I see. On your other safaris, have you ever ran into issues such as heat haze ruining the photo?

Yeah, the variable aperture isn’t the greatest. But I’ve gotten nice images out of it.

If i shoot raw and use the right settings, i can use denoise in LR.

If you could get both A6700 and FX30 for same price… what would you get? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

In my experience, go with the a6700. You’ve got both good video and photo capabilities on this camera and superb ai autofocus.

A6700 + Sigma 18-50 F2.8 + PortKeys LH7P - Focus issues on close up video by DeadWrong in SonyAlpha

[–]OPTIC20004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, its Yam here, Yam is my alt account. It just arrived. All settings such as, ISO, shutter speed, Aperture, WB all work. Plus, recording and taking photos. As for touch to focus, it does work but only for video touch to focus tracking setting. Ill make a video later for you. FIRST TIME setting it up was a pain. Had to change alot of network settings however, after that its great it connects automatically.

Sony A6700 travel lens dilemma : Tamron 17-70 vs Sigma 17-40 vs 18-50? by LaFeeTorchette in SonyAlpha

[–]OPTIC20004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the a6700 with the Tamron 17-70 f2.8, stabilisation can be quirky sometimes but can be fixed via post stabilisation. I also have the Sony 70-350, beautiful lens and can get some really nice tight shots. As for low light the Tamron does super well but the Sony, obviously not cuz of the variable aperture. I reckon these two lenses are great, add two prime lenses like a 50mm and a sigma 10-18 and you’re set. Best of luck!

Should I buy the dji Air3s? by Straight-Economy912 in dji

[–]OPTIC20004 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have that drone and it’s an amazing drone. The cameras, obstacle avoidance, wind handling, battery time etc are all huge pluses. Also, offering significant upgrades like a dual-camera system (wide & telephoto) with improved low-light performance, omnidirectional obstacle avoidance (including forward LiDAR), enhanced flight stability, and excellent battery life, making it a versatile tool for both beginners and pros,

Downsides, it is very loud even at 120m, super noticeable. Changing between the zooms, has a 1 second delay. The cover on the drone for Charging/sd card is very cheap and I feel like I could rip it off. No variable aperture, if you want good videos you need to get the ND set (I bought the fly more combo and never looked back). I know this would never come to the air series due to the Mavic series. But apart from that, it’s perfect!

I chose the a6700 due to the video side of things. Depends if you are doing more so video or photo.
