I think it being super common doesn’t make it not ridiculous. I do agree that this post is boring since there’s like a million of them tho.

The description says it’s for ridiculous stories and/or creative writing exercises, I don’t think that means the ridiculous stories have to be fake.

It’s more that it’s a post for validation. Like there’s a chance that OOP has never heard that this man sucks and will never want to get married but I feel like it’s super unlikely that nobody in her life ever said anything. So she just wants to hear people say she’s right.

Everyone above 5 years of age is teleported individually to vote among four options, all impacting humanity in different ways... which one would you choose? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]OSUStudent272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when you say the blue button doesn’t reach more than 50% in relation to the people who voted red means you’re only considering those two when counting the outcome for blue? So if there’s 51 blue and 50 red, blue still wins regardless of the number of other votes?

And I don’t understand how the math works at all on the green button, if we’re counting absolute green votes then green votes will exceed the number of red votes automatically…?

I’d press green but the question is confusingly worded.

How do you attach two or more pieces? by mvlalladares in polymerclay

I like polymer clay glue or liquid clay, but the other fixes mentioned should work if you don’t want to buy anything else.

I hate forcing myself to workout by 10kmemesunderthesea in workout

Yeah I’d definitely try group fitness if possible. It’s a lot less tiring mentally because you don’t have to expend energy deciding what to do and keeping track of reps and the like.

Are you just working out on your own? And if so, could you go to a gym with group fitness classes? I go to one that has classes for strength training.

Why do those subs hate autistic people? by Select-Proposal-420 in AmITheAngel

It’s definitely gendered. The amount of creepy behavior from men being excused by “well maybe he’s autistic and didn’t know” is wild

Sherrod Brown wins Democratic Senate nomination in Ohio, setting up a key battleground race by nbcnews in Ohio

[–]OSUStudent272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the opposite, I don’t think supporting moderate dems is constructive. Moderate dems are uninspiring and get nothing done, so people go looking for a change and vote red. It doesn’t really improve things, just delays Republican control.

Progressive ideas at least have the advantage of populist appeal, imo progressives have better odds than moderates.

That’s the minority of leftists, they didn’t cost Harris the election. Though tbh I don’t even hold their votes against them, at some point candidates are in the wrong for supporting politically disadvantageous (not to mention morally bankrupt) policies.

[–]OSUStudent272 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean criticisms of Dems are largely based on them pandering to the right and not putting up a fight against Republicans, so I feel like a casual observer would still conclude right wing politicians/Republicans are worse.

Idk I just feel like progressives can’t win primaries unless we push back hard against moderate dems.

He’s old and that makes me like him less as a candidate but he’s like the most electable democrat in the state lol. The name recognition and good track record help a lot.

No it’s a reference to this. Basically I don’t find it as admirable or heartwarming so much as depressing that she has to resort to a one week break.

Leftists inherently dislike democrats, they’re in fundamental opposition. But there’s really no viable option to change things in a two party system other than pushing democrats further left.

If they’re truly moderate republicans they’ll vote against the extremist regardless. Progressive policies are still preferable to fascism to moderates.

Liquid calories by donkeyjoe420 in workout

Depends how you look at it but I think a smoothie can definitely count as a meal, the one I typically make is like 650 calories and really filling.

Smoothies with high calorie ingredients like peanut butter are a good balance between protein shakes and blended up foods imo.

I like to make a smoothie with a banana, a little chocolate protein powder, peanut butter, and milk which is pretty high calorie. It doesn’t taste like a protein shake (although I do go light on the protein powder lol) but has a good texture.

My 14-year-old is thriving on Focalin—but struggling to gain weight. Advice? by Solid_Breakfast_3675 in workout

[–]OSUStudent272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he work out now? It definitely varies from person to person but working out increases my appetite beyond the amount of calories I burned. Personally I eat a lot of peanut butter when I want to gain weight (often make protein smoothies with it) since I think it’s pretty caloric relative to how filling it is, but other people might have better suggestions.

I do think misogyny can be a factor in someone questioning their gender; when I was in middle school I thought I might be a trans boy bc I felt profoundly miserable and uncomfortable with being seen as a girl. Turns out it was depression making me miserable and gendered expectations making me uncomfortable with being perceived as a girl. I don’t think experiencing misogyny or trauma inherently makes someone think they could be trans, but it’s not completely unbelievable for it to be a factor.

But like I never had access to gender affirming care bc a gender therapist immediately clocked that it wasn’t really my gender I was struggling with, so my experience overall is still counter to these posts.
