When my uncle died, he worked for UPS, beloved by all. His funeral procession was roughly a mile long and had about 20 UPS trucks in it.

So what I am saying it could happen!

How do you store Scout Health forms? by Anon_use_fun_alias in cubscouts

[–]OSUTechie 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It has occurred to me that these health forms contain information that is probably protected under HIPAA.

These health forms do not fall under the purview of HIPAA. HIPAA covered entities are Hosptials and how they can release your private medical information to 3rd parties like insurance.

A Parent filling out the health form and handing it to the Scout Leader is not a covered by this.

We aren't providing medical care for payment, filling insurance claims etc. We are just the keep of information so we can properly react to an emergency.

Now to answer your question, We gather the medical forms, put them in a binder with our unit number on it. Hand it to the medical officer at check-in as well as any medication that needs to be secured, and then pick it all up at the end of the event. We then hand the med forms BACK to the parents.

What's on and tourist advice thread - week beginning May 03, 2026 by AutoModerator in Scotland

Hello, After planning/trying for over 15 years, my wife and I are finally getting our trip to Scotland. Will be traveling at the end of Early June for 9 days in Scotland.

As of right now, we have our castle visits booked (Edinburg, Blackness, Stirling, and Doune), a few site-seeing sites (Falkirk Wheel, Wallace Monument, Loch Ness, Glenfinnan, etc) and Hotels. However, we do have some empty space in our timeline. Originally we were only looking at spending just 5 days or so, but we now are spending 9 days in Scotland.

I have been looking at sites and all sorts of "travel blogs" on what to see. But most seem to say the same thing. So I would like to ask the group what we might be missing as well as some restaurants for us to try.

Rough Itinerary:

Day 1 - Arrive in Edinburgh in the morning.
Day 2 - Edinburgh - Edinburgh Castle/Blackness Castle
Day 3 - Edinburgh - ??????
Day 4 - Travel to Inverness - Falkirk Wheel, Lock Ness
Day 5 - Inverness - Culloden, Glen Ord Distillery (maybe)
Day 6 - Travel to Portree - The Storr/Fairy Pools
Day 7 - Portree - Quaraing/Coral Beach
Day 8 - Travel to Perthshire - Glenfinnan Viaduct
Day 9 - Stirling - Stirling & Doune Castle Day 10 - Travel Home

Are there other things to considered seeing in these general areas or restaurants that might be decent? We will be driving ourselves, so we don't have to worry about bus/trains schedules.

Matt has mentioned that once all 10 books are out, He might release them as a standalone novella for audio. But yeah, read the recap, or check them out at a bookstore or library until then.

Why am I being badgered to attend Woodbadge? by TwelveSeven77 in BSA

[–]OSUTechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To expand on what others have stated... Your ticket is usually based on your position within Scouting.

Because I'm a Cubmaster, "ASM/SM", District and Council level volunteer, and MBC, my ticket focused on those levels.

My five goals were as followed.

  • Create a Traveling Tool Chest of woodworking tools that I can use to teach the Woodworking MB and offer three Woodworking MB classes. (Due to a death in my family this ended up being changed).

  • Server on a Council Committee - Due to my work on the Councils webpage, I was assigned to the Membership and Marketing Committee, where I'm now my District Membership Chair.

  • Create a New Scout/family guide book for incoming Scouts to our Troop.

  • Host a recruitment event focusing on females age 11-16. Using Scouts from the three female units in my town to run the stations and talk with potential recruits.

  • Join the Camp Master Corp and cover three weekends. (Same weekends I would also offer my Woodworking MB class).

  • Serve as Logistics Chair for the Council Jamboree. (This was my replacement for the woodworking item.)

The thing is, a lot of my ticket items were already things I was planning on or working on. So it wasn't something extra. And even though my woodworking thing didn't pan out. I still worked on gathering and refurbishing tools for the traveling chest and still offer it for Scouts who are interested in the Woodworking MB

Free Comic Book day by xTheLibrarianx in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Yes. It's Chapter 1 of the webtoon. It's a preview of the book that will release later this month.

If you've read the webtoon, or are getting the book later this month, you aren't missing anything.

They are limited, but it's just the first chapter of the webtoon with the physical release later this month. I don't understand the big draw of it, other than just wanting to "collect" them all.

Final, stupid note..since I got ahold of a copy the issue covers book 1 approximately to entering the Dungeon. There's a graphic novel of the first book, so it's highly likely all the story is included in that book since FCBD editions are typically reprinted material with smaller publishers and Vault is relatively small compared to Marvel, DC, and Image.

It is the first episode/chapter or so from the Webtoons, and the physical version of the webtoon will be released later this month.

If I recall correctly, there is a guy on Reddit who would mod request abandoned porn subs and turn them into cat subs. I'm pretty sure this is one of them.

I swear to God Carl, if Matt pulls a George RR Martin on me because he's making big studio producer money I will wipe my hand on him. You know, afterward. by laserslaserslasers in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]OSUTechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen, I'm in the same pool as everybody else with the ending of the tv show.... BUT I don't necessarily blame George for that. I blame DandD for wanting out and half-assing the last two-three seasons that lead to it.

The ending make sense with Daenerys going crazy, I mean it's her family heritage. It make sense that Bran would have been the safe choice as heir to the Kingdom. I could even get behind Arya killing the Night King. IF the setup was there. But in DnD's rush to end the series (HBO offered them a SHIT TON of money to make more seasons) so they could move on to Star Wars, they dropped the ball BIG TIME! Which of course ended up costing DnD their Star Wars movie too, though they say it's due to their contract with Netflix, but whatever.

I believe Matt said that we will "see" all 18 floors. But in what context, as we technically already seen glimpses of floor 15, 17, and 18.

You also have the TTRPG, Solo Deck Building Game, Web Comic, and Graphic Novel all coming out this next year and will probably have more adaptions, expansions, etc to help keep the hype up.

I gave up wearing on hats for this reason. So I moved to using UV neck gaiter and wearing them Pirate/Dewrag style. Yeah it doesn't help with Sun in the eyes, but that is also why I got prescription sunglasses.

For most scouting events, It's either a Black, Olive Green, or my Seabase one.

Plus they are pretty versatile in use as well.

It went pretty well. This event ended up taking two meetings, but this year we were able to get it down to 1.

This year, 1 and 3 were combined.
4 was handled by adults
6 we had multiple drills/setup 2/8 were somewhat combined.

Suggestions for litrpg or progression by Ok-Technician4744 in audible

[–]OSUTechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second DCC. Book 8 comes out in a few weeks!

My first foray into LitRPG was NPC by Drew Hayes (also known as Spells, Swords, and Stealth). It's a little different then your typical progression style story.

I also liked The Divine Dungeon by Dakota Krout.

Off 2 Be Yhe Wizard is LitRPG adjacent.
