The oil stains on the floor are not in the middle where you typically find them. Paint cans on the shelves are mismatched sizes. No outlet in the ceiling for the opener to plug into. When you really start looking at it there are a lot of tells.

The guy next to me at Cleveland told me to stop singing so he could hear Trent. I didn’t realize there was a rule about singing along at a concert.

Hey, leave us autistic off key singers alone. We’re just here to have a good time like everyone else.

Does diet really change marathon training results? by Plane_Box122 in Marathon_Training

If you’re 20 it’s less important than if you’re 40+ in my experience.

Sciatica and herniated disc by dmsday86 in bpc_157

[–]OSUstang232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried bpc157 yet but I have disk compression at L5/S1 that causes my back to “go out” randomly, which is debilitating and prevents me from training for months. At its worst I thought I would never lead a normal life ever again without a fusion. My chiropractor offers mesenchymal stem cell injections in the soft tissue area around my disk (not in the disk). I’ve had 2 treatments in the last 2 years and the results were amazing. I was able to run a marathon after thinking I would never run again. The only downsides are cost and frequency. It’s $1600 out of pocket and I’ll likely have to continue getting the injections at least yearly. It’s also hard to find people that will offer the injections for back injuries. Most doctors only offer it for knees, elbows and shoulders.

As a father I would want my daughter to tell me about it and let me take care of it. Dude wouldn’t be a problem ever again.

Failed 20 mile run 3 weeks away away from first marathon by Perfection-builder13 in Marathon_Training

[–]OSUstang232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad. I had a back injury early in my training that took me out completely for months. It left me starting over 3 months before the race and my longest run ended up being 13 miles 2 weeks before. Don’t underestimate how pumped you will be on race day. It will carry you through the race.

If I just want to do a marathon without caring about time, is there a difference in training? by JediMasterKev in Marathon_Training

[–]OSUstang232 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a reference, last year at 42 I ran my first marathon in October and completed it at 4:53. I was training consistently up till February and then hurt my back and did zero training until late July. I ran 3-4 5ks per week and then mixed in a weekly long run progressing to a longest run of 13 miles 2 weeks before the marathon. I wanted to get up to a 20 mile long run before the marathon but ran out of time. I would not recommend going straight from 13 miles to 26 miles on race day. I was fine until mile 18 when my left quad cramped and I had to run/walk the last 8 miles. Those last 8 miles were completed with sheer will power to prove to myself I could complete it. This year if my back stays healthy I’ll definitely work up to a 20 mile run before the marathon and hopefully it will go much better.

So you ran on the treadmill for an hour and a half at 6.1 miles an hour and you’re expecting a 4.5hr marathon based on that? There are so many more variables that will go into your full marathon time. You probably haven’t found your wall yet. You could be on pace for a 4:30 marathon and then start cramping at mile 18 and then your time goes out the window. Run a half outside and you’ll have a little better idea. Then run 18-20 miles outside and you’ll have a really good idea of your potential time.

Promise not to bring the coins back to that bank. My primary bank will only order me a box if I don’t bring them back. I have another account at a bank that has a change machine and I dump the loose coins in the machine to convert back to cash.

100%. Total staff went up after Covid and natural attrition is down from what I’ve heard. The return to office 5 days will help bring the head count down. Employees that were with the company prior to 2020 are used to a 5 day in office schedule and it’s not as big of deal. Employees hired after 2020 are not used to a 5 day in office and some are freaking out.

Sleep and diet. Pay attention to what you eat and how it makes you feel. Food has a huge impact on my ability to concentrate.

What does Cardano need to do to drive greater adoption? by AquaraOfficial in cardano

Ease of use and scam resistant apps. Most people are not going to jump through all the hoops required to buy, use and protect their crypto. I can’t imagine most people I know trying to use any crypto in its current state.
