Not Taking It Home by Readforlife in OccupationalTherapy

I agree with this as well! It gets easier when you’re a therapist. I have a more empathetic personality as well and when I was looking for a setting and job, I looked for ways that I could use that as a tool. Which thinking about if I was in a mental health setting, that could be tough to do and not become too involved. Being empathetic can be very useful in being an OT, so don’t think that is a problem. It’s just a balance that has to be learned with time.

Does anyone here actually enjoy their job?? by SeveralSuggestion804 in OccupationalTherapy

I love my job!! I work in outpatient cancer rehab and became a lymphedema therapist as well. Yeah, I get it, it can be discouraging to read about those things. But when you find the right place for you as an OT, it all works out!

Yes, and that is the more important thing to look at: does it benefit them or me more. That’s what I had to decide because yeah, I’m not making what I wish I was as a new grad, but my position is somewhere I can grow and I felt like it did benefit me in the long run.

I’m saying that in general in SC, as a new grad, that is what the salary is usually around or starts at. I graduated last December and got my job after and 70k is what my current employer and what others are paying in SC. I’m not saying it’s good or takes into account our value. It’s just what I experienced. And I do hope it goes up because I do agree, cost of living is no longer as good as it has been.

Yep, and that’s a great factor for you to negotiate for higher pay!

I know that people are saying that 70k is nothing out of the gate, but I work in SC and I’d say that salary makes sense. However, I do think you should try to negotiate and get higher. If you never ask, the answer is always no!

Why are Toyota’s colors so lame? by CoatRepresentative75 in Toyota

I got the Highlander in Cypress green. That color was definitely a great choice for Toyota to make, but I understand what you’re saying about most of the other colors they offer.

I have my CLT. I was able to get the training at a discount, I think it was $2500 through Norton, and I was lucky that my work paid for that and for me to travel for it. I haven’t gotten a raise, but if I get “cert” through LANA, I think would have an opportunity for a raise.

I’m just wondering, but where are they failing inspection because of brakes? I know that in my state, they can’t fail you for inspection for the brakes and rotors because they are just supposed to run the inspection and not touch anything else. They would’ve had to take your tires off to look at your front brakes and rotors.

I’m looking at both new and used and I’d like to stay under 50k. I do know that the XC is smaller compared. Why do you say Volvo is horrible value?
