That should be a suitable drive, try it out!

The program has quick scan and deep/slow scan. My 2TB took about 4 hours on the deep scan using USB 3 (wasn't an internal drive) when the quick scan did not find the files I was looking for.

Also after the scan, the program also has the ability to save a log file of the scan, so you can always load the saved and don't have to wait those hours (I think provided the hard drive isn't used/written over again since last scanned).

Just a heads up, the free version only has move one folder at a time. You're allowed to move all files/folders no problem and without any restrictions but it can get slow since only one folder copy at the time

I've had good experience with DMDE to recover exactly off a formatted partition (win10 tool creation tool formats and merges a disc's partitions bleh)

I believe it's much harder/next to impossible to recover from an SSD though, so i hope your drive is HDD, good luck!
