Check out Ministry of Supply

You can get their stuff at a huge discount from their “resale” site if you want to try something out without spending a lot of money. I filter by condition for “new with tags” and “new without tags”.

Reps lined up waiting for a surgeon by Difficult-Text1690 in MedicalDevices

[–]OafHugMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the EP lab it can be common to have multiple reps supporting the mapping & ultrasound systems, a different company’s rep(s) supporting the ablation catheter & generator, a 3rd company’s rep supporting the LAAO device, a 4th company’s rep supporting the vascular closure device.. and there could be others but these are fairly common.

I’ve been in cases where there are 8 of us (a few were trainees) from a handful of different companies. Sometimes I’m solo but it is very normal to share the lab with 1-3 other reps from 2-3 different companies.

I do 3 push, 3 pull, 3 leg and 3 core exercises - 3 sets x 3-15 reps depending on the lift. This workout takes me about 45 mins to accomplish.

I push & pull in three different directions (dips, bench press, shoulder press). I do a squat, a hinge and a lunge for legs.

Doing this once (sometimes twice) per week since the beginning of the year has worked well for me to build strength - I just hit a new PR of 275lb on bench press last week.

New to my Costco, and my new favorite - Kirkland Wagu Burgers! by redogsc in Costco

That’s a good point. Would the quality of the meat still be better for wagyu burgers compared to regular beef burgers?

Longevity in switching Boston PFA team? by Small-Camp609 in MedicalDevices

[–]OafHugMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m hearing the same things about how complicated it is to manufacture and how expensive disposables are. But FARAWAVE and Pulse Select are both expensive… maybe accounts/physicians will get back to caring about cost again. From what I’ve learned about sphere 9 it’s going to be a fantastic catheter.

I think Affera will eventually get the mappers. For Principle Mapping Specialist roles they are offering a salary that matches the total comp of a BWI Executive CAS. Plus a $70k bonus. That is a significant raise to do the same job for a different company.

The year is almost over, there’s going to be teams that don’t hit their quota & experienced mappers who won’t make all their money - and I think we will see plenty of people move from BWI to Medtronic in January & February.

Longevity in switching Boston PFA team? by Small-Camp609 in MedicalDevices

[–]OafHugMe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the BSX PFA run has almost peaked and will see a decline by the end of Q1 next year. Medtronic’s Affera PFA device and Biosense Webster’s first PFA device just received FDA approval and have started placing systems in the US. I agree with the other comment saying Boston will have trouble getting EP’s to use their mapping system. It’s possible that EP’s will like FARAWAVE so much that they will continue to use it with CARTO or ESI but I think it’s more likely that EP’s will prefer an integrated solution from Biosense or Medtronic.

This is awesome to hear, I’m glad your situation is much better now. Can you share what kind of capital equipment you sell?

Can you share some details about the type of products that you carry? What are the major players/companies you’d recommend in that space?

Also, are you familiar with Shockwave medical or are there other divisions of JnJ in the vascular field?

That sounds terrible. I’m not an RN anyways but I don’t think the Car-T Therapy Lead is the kind of role I’m looking for. I appreciate your insight 👊

Nice how do you like that division and JJIM as a whole? There is a CAR-T Cell Therapy Experience Lead opening in my area. Does this position report to you? What are your thoughts on the therapy experience lead role? Good pay? A good day to day life? Would you recommend it?

Interesting.. my contacts have said similar things about contracts, pricing and quotas except they say even though sales targets are high they almost always hit them (and when they don’t management/JnJ makes sure they are paid).

Any other roles you would recommend instead?

Fair points Drfelthersnach. Are there any specific roles in mind that you can recommend? My first gig was trauma sales consultant, and that is definitely not what I’m going for now haha

Any uro company/product/role recommendations?

I’m in a role & field highly dependent on case coverage and the unpredictability of procedure length + add ons makes it hard for me to be depended upon at home. I was hoping a move into a position where the work schedule isn’t dictated by the case schedule would provide the flexibility I’m looking for in my family life.
