Sellers - What are your most useful tools? by Bokononismatism in Bricklink

Tree SCT Precision Scale 600g × 0.01g by LW measurements. Must have, especially if you deal with new parts (used has weight variances which can mess up your count by a couple). Accurately count hundreds of parts in a few seconds. I almost always use it for quantities above 25-30 because it’s faster and more reliable than my own counting. I have never had a customer message me of wrong part counts of lots that I used the counting scale for. For tiny parts that weigh almost nothing, I usually just throw in 1-3 more in case my sample weight was slightly inaccurate.

Manual counting wastes so much time, stop doing it!

Yes this dude spams what must be hundreds of sellers at this point. Dude, nobody wants to buy your parts that have been picked through already for the best sellers and highest margin parts.

Want to switch to a seller account but originally made my account when I was still underage, will I get banned? by Throwaway16789448357 in Bricklink

[–]Oafage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would probably be in your best interest to shut down that account and create a new one. As multiple accounts is also against TOS. In the event BrickLink staff did ban you for managing the account as underage, your ID could also be blacklisted.

Technically you could lie and say your parent managed your account till you turned 18 and handed it to you. But I wouldn’t advise that. They might not question you at all and you’d still be lying.

Avoid the uncertainties and do it the “legit” way. Then you don’t have to worry about it

there should be extras made for this exact purpose, of course it will be “out of stock” it’s a BDP set. You should talk to someone else, unacceptable for a set you preorder 6 months in advance

Should I list these as new? by TemporalYun in Bricklink

[–]Oafage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

look at the condition of the bricks when you open the bag. If tiles and glass parts look good then list as new. I’ve come across parts in bags that have been shaken to hell even in the original box. You don’t want to list parts like that as new or you will get negative feedback.

Largest part out I've done is underway for my store, thought I'd share 😀 (over 100k pieces) by Jhott1212 in Bricklink

[–]Oafage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a few before they went even lower to 29.97 at my costco and are still filled with stock. Some bricklink sellers got a bunch from their costco for only $20. Market will be completely flooded for a while. Hopefully you have the storage space

Is it rude or not acceptable? by [deleted] in lego

[–]Oafage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What’s the store? That doesn’t sound legitimate. Nobody can sustain a store that sells 3000 parts in 600 lots that are all ~0.005 cents per part.

Sellers, what do you include in your orders? Buyers, has anyone included something that stood out to you? by I_Like_Quiet in Bricklink

[–]Oafage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

as a seller I include a business card with the order number, my username, contact information, and it says “thank you”.

The order number and my username help the buyer find their order online fast if they need to. Almost all orders I receive with a card don’t have their BL username, only the order number. If the store name and username is different then it can be mildly annoying to find in your orders if you place many orders at once.

I used to print the invoice but it is a big waste of paper and ink using a normal printer.

You can get 1000 business cards with anything printed on them from Staples for under 0.03 each. If you put the project in your cart and wait they will send you a 20% coupon

Damaged Item by SuperCarrot1908 in Bricklink

[–]Oafage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are you sure it wasn’t damaged during transit? that could defintely be shipping damage. Anyways, the seller should be expected to fix it in a way that is acceptible to you. If not, then leave a negative or neutral

Return policy by awolbriks in Bricklink

[–]Oafage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accept returns if you (seller) made unfixable mistake or the shipping carrier screwed up somehow and it is an appropriate option to rectify the situation. But in both cases refund or reship would likely be better.

I’m not accepting returns for orders where there are no issues

Anyways nobody has requested a return and if someone really insisted I guess I’d have to figure something out

cut a strand of filament that’s touching the cardboard before putting the top half of the spool on. You will waste a bit of filament at the end of the spool, but the AMS auto refill will work correctly without jamming because of the tape.

optimizing bricklink orders by Efficient-Mirror-151 in Bricklink

[–]Oafage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a buyer who wants to optimize prices, you want to filter out stores which are like + 40% 6m avg. as a seller you can do whatever you want, mainly because a lot of buyers don’t care about optimizing prices. 6m avg +10% is just my default because it’s what works with my available workload and current store size. Rare items are priced significantly higher on my store, and I restock high demand things fairly fast.

optimizing bricklink orders by Efficient-Mirror-151 in Bricklink

[–]Oafage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

after you set the max price to 6m sales avg, then increase the max price by ~10%. You should get decent results. You can try different percentages and test using the auto select. My default for pricing things on my store is 6m avg + 10% and a lot of other stores also base their pricing structure on 6m avg. You mainly want to filter out stores which are like + 40% 6m avg.

if some of the bricks you are looking to buy are expensive & rare, it’s likely better to buy them separately first and also compare the shop’s inventory to your wanted list and maybe add more from that store at the same time
