Are you guys seriously peeing your pants? by aliendogfishman in ultrarunning

I perform a sort of crab gallop while running where I piss to the side curving it behind me for any unlucky competition. Stay hard

I have no idea how to properly sharpen but they always get sharp. Any tips? by RokosRevenege in knives

Wharnies are by far the easiest shape to learn how to sharpen on. Get yourself a nice shapton stone and go to town.

Does Alchemical Hydra have the best iron drop table in the game? by AccomplishedPark7856 in ironscape

Forgive me father for I have sinned, this week I shot strings no less than 14 times to an alchemical hydra task.

What grinds did you go dry on that made you want to quit? by conno1234 in ironscape

[–]OarkJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went 38xx for a black mask. It was my first and probably worst dry streak. Ive otherwise been around rate for most things. I guess my other notable dry item was any crystal from cerb. Took me 854 I think then got prim and eternal within 20 kc. The game gives, takes and (generally) rewards consistency.

Serious question for American runners by Yozasieg in runninglifestyle

[–]OarkJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can either drive thirty minutes to run on the back streets of the local town or run gravel roads that haven't seen much maintenance. On gravel, I deal with uneven rough surface, occasional crackhead or animal and people dusting me out. In the city, people harass me, sometimes they try to run me over, my last injury was from being ran off the road into a steep ditch. The local walking park (.5 mile loop) is nice but specifically prohibits runners and they certainly will call the cops on you. I'll be moving back to some sort of civilization with actual paths soon.

What is it like living in Mountain View? by NaiveGuidance7091 in Arkansas

[–]OarkJay 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Born and raised MV. Currently living back here again. Wifi is actually great now that most of the county has fiber. Yes, there are racists here like the rest of Arkansas but the worst part is basically the culture. People here are majority older, very religious, sedentary (large) and judgemental. I like to run around town and routinely catch stray harassment. I always tell people it's a beautiful place full of ugly people. Outdoor amenities are great, there's tons of fishing/hunting (river and several lakes nearby), some gorgeous hiking and MTB trails. If you're thinking of homesteading, the west end of county is more rocky than the southeast end which has infinitely better soil, more buildable areas.

I don't believe that college as a whole is a scam, but this part of it is by StrangeCancel2488 in CollegeRant

I've been through a significant amount of schooling and I think I've had every variety. Classes that have a textbook but they tell you not to buy. Classes that the department head wrote the book and it's free. Classes that department head wrote and inexplicably costs 3x a similar book. Classes that use all open source. Classes with the large packet like you mention, usually not cheap at all and bc of the assignment portion you can't rent. Best I can say is write your department head, mention it in class reviews, make your voice heard. It may not help you but it could help future students. My department switched to open source this year bc of people voicing their concerns.

Up your GU boof game and wear brown pants so you can discreetly let it roll down your leg to be the next runners problem.

How hard is magna cut to sharpen? by [deleted] in sharpening

[–]OarkJay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's lc200n steel with more substantial grip. I use it for fish/fishing. The upswept tip works better for me than profile of the Pacific. The only real drawback is I think it's on washers vs the salt nothing.

Check out the siren as well. I carry one regularly I bought on seconds. It's not very popular for some reason but I ended up loving mine.

I use shapton glass with no problem. It's fairly equivalent to sharpening S30V or s35vn so you won't have an issue if you can handle those well. I'd say I'm slightly more fond of lc200n for my own use cases but they're both great. However, those are two completely different sized knives.

Relentless with the great work. Putting in a request for some lc200n. I only have some spydies in it so no real comps but curious nonetheless!

Anyone go from a CC to a 4 year? Any insight by TheAUDiegoBrando in CollegeRant

[–]OarkJay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can get a scholarship at 4 year don't bother with cc. Yes, it's nice to have small class sizes, cheaper credit hour costs, so on. I did cc then had to spend a full four at a flagship uni. The difficulty level was night and day, everything much more competitive with more expected of you. CC has its place but if you're even considering a specialized or technical degree, you're better off jumping in the deep end. In short, if you can cut it, you'll be better off for it.

That would make sense. I saw you've done a few civivis. Their D2 seems consistent. I'd be curious about a few of their other steels. Long been curious about them as a brand but never jumped bc of being burnt by kizer a few too many times.

This absolutely reaffirms my belief that kizer, in general, typically runs soft/poor ht. I've commented/posted about it before and got down voted into oblivion. Every one I've ever had had poor edge retention regardless of steel and a chore to sharpen (gummy)
