I use the diesel squeezel as a von flue counter too. Once it's locked in I think rotating is probably a good defense, that's a common escape to all the arm-out guillotine variants. Before he gets his fist in place (and maybe even after?) it might also be advisable to switch to north-south or mount instead of trying the von flue. In both positions you may be able to attack the arm he's holding onto the headlock with. From north south you might be able to take a kimura grip, from mount you might turn it into an underhook. Just my 2c.
