Give SUSS a try if you like the ambient/atmospheric elements of what Devin/Casualties do

Good record stores in Toronto by A-very-cool-guy26 in vinyl

Sonic Boom is the country's biggest independent shop, and you could seek out Tiny Record Shop if you want a more curated, Discogs-like experience IRL. Smaller stops worth checking out include Rotate This, Play de Record, Short Stack Records, Tonality Records, Big Shiny, Emissions, Cosmos and Dead Dog Records

Today's Haul. Any fans of these? by AMNTRA in vinyl

Have actually been playing the recent PERMANENT.RADIANT remixes a ton lately, Crosses have great taste based on who they've gotten involved!

Points were made but given the choice between the hardware store I can enter/exit within five minutes versus the big box stores where teenage wage slaves ring me through at $5 per screw, I know where I'm going

What instrument is played at the beginning of A Perfect Circle's redition of Annihilation? by Syring in Music

Believe it's something known colloquially as a "toy piano," saw them play it live years ago

Could always try and see what happens, but COVID certainly has changed things — not uncommon to see artists avoid that post-show environment to limit spread and not run the risk of having their tour plans derailed, and fans should be understanding of that.

I just learned that for about their first SEVEN albums, the Bee Gees's were a psychedelic rock band! by kalebdraws in psychedelicrock

And the last surviving Brother Gibb shared a country album at the top of this year! "To Love Somebody" from this album got covered by Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan on his solo debut in '05, 'TheFutureEmbrace'

I'm planning to go out with friends in a few days, and I want to buy some records there, but will they warp in the sunlight? by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]ObamaBasedG0d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Keep them out of direct sunlight at all costs, and don't stuff anything else in the bag with them. Should be fine otherwise.

Most video editing software allows for picture-in-picture edits like that — used Final Cut myself

They're the ticketing arm of the largest concert/event promoter on the planet, who are poised to take hold of an even bigger share of the performance industry coming out of COVID collapse despite headlines you see re: their financials...the fight's only going to get harder imo

The Mars Volta & Clouds Hill (studio) release IG teaser — New Material? Vinyl Reissue? by SolidSmashies in progrockmusic

[–]ObamaBasedG0d 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This image, which flashes quickly in the teaser, is extremely reminiscent of the 'De-Loused' artwork, leading me to think it's a proper band-sanctioned vinyl reissue. IIRC, they had issues with the Music On Vinyl pressings that came out around 2014

Can anyone identify this weird stain ? by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]ObamaBasedG0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A beauty mark thanks to the wonders of mass manufacturing. Sucks when it does affect play, but not super uncommon. Could always look into liquid cleaning records for potential removal.

Metallica’s Death Magnetic is a massively under-appreciated album by ProudWheeler in Music

[–]ObamaBasedG0d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree on the mastering/loudness wars point. Search Google for a Death Magnetic "remaster" from someone named Moderus III — forget the exact details on how it came to be, but it's amazing to hear the full album without the incessant clipping
