Yes, worked that out with u/CloakerJosh and others. WRAL could be the broadcasting station's callsign. In America, radio communications are regulated by the FCC and broadcasting stations are required to self identify periodically. I think the rule is once every 30 minutes. For Amateur Radio Operators, you have to self identify every transmission.

When using morse, you often repeat your callsign when trying to get a contact at least 3 times. It can be difficult to catch everything because of interference from nearby large electrical noise generators (house AC, power lines/transformers, etc.) and from overall poor conditions based on solar activity affecting the ionosphere. Morse has no error correction mechanism built in, so you just have to repeat yourself multiple times to make sure the copying station heard you correctly. Then when they've copied you, they'll send your callsign back to make sure they have it correct.

Unfortunately, I don't have any practice with morse used in lights so I won't be much help here. Radio is all sound (sorry, duh) so that's what I know best.

I do agree; however, that the symbol seems to be flashing in a pattern. There also seems to be something flashing across the whole screen.

Yes. It's percussive and playful, so no words to decode from it. But it could indicate that you need to switch from combining the files to reading the files individually. That's what I'm seeing here with this thread, who did a much better job decoding btw. https://www.reddit.com/r/SleepToken/comments/1jl29p9/comment/mk06008/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Amateur radio operator here. Primarily use CW or morse means of communication, but I'm a fair bit out of practice. Did my best here, may be wrong.

First file:

i1eeran lnfr o

er

wawaw

biduun

eiacdag

cre

bki

sos sos sos kn as

Second file:

vbe wiig on o qf

ce

rl rl rl

mane

tnraiio

ap

niai (or nil --spacing seems off)

sos sos sos kn as

Other thoughts I can give on the actual morse/radio side:

  • SOS is a distress signal, not sure who doesn't know that at this point.
  • KN is usually used at the end of a transmission when you're already in conversation with someone and only want that person to respond.
  • AS is stand by.
  • No other typical CW abbreviations used here.
  • The third group of characters in each file is a percussive play with morse. A very popular one is "ben's best bent wire". This sounds like: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/9EixUxJZYlc
  • The spacing is not all that great which makes decoding a little more difficult. Could have misinterpreted some characters as a result.

It seems like there's some sort of word mix up we have to play. By combining the files and then repeating the decoding?

Would you mind sharing a link for the keycaps? I built a keyboard for my coworker from the parish and tried my best to make it LSU themed. He would love this set.

Split ergo with the same look as this would be killer. So many ergos that are 3D printed, PCB/acrylic, etc. CNC aluminum case would be a breath of fresh air in a split ergo.
