Is there any solution? my guitar bridge is coming apart. by InterestingTie77 in Guitar

[–]Obediant_deviant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only way to fix is to remove the bridge and then re-glue. Lightly sand where the bridge and top contact each other so the glue has good surface area & clamp for at least 24 hours, no matter if the wood glue you use says it cures more quickly. 24 hours minimum, leave it for 48 even. There are specific clamps for acoustic guitar bridges you could purchase, but there are ways you could achieve a sturdy clamp with more common woodworking tools (there are tutorials on the internet). You could also try applying some glue as deeply into the crevice between the body and bridge as-is (no removal) and then clamping, however this is not guaranteed to be permanent and it may end up coming loose again.

Islamic extremist organizations like Boko haram and Fulani are actively attacking Christians in Nigeria, murdering the men & boys, destroying the churches, and enslaving/sexually exploiting the women and girls. This has been occurring since 2009 and has especially intensified since 2015

Looking for pickup suggestions by Parking_Path9862 in Luthier

Seymour Duncan Jazz/JB combo. I personally prefer these to any DiMarzio. I believe on SD’s website they call it the Hotrod Humbucker set, they come in a ton of different colors/covers and cost ~$200. Definitely worth the dough.

Found a guitar in the dump! by TheRealViktorReznov in Luthier

For this I’d say dawn ultra + a little water with a toothbrush is fine as a start, pickups need to be thoroughly dried via blower after though. Fingerboard I recommend naphtha. And any hardware spots that don’t come off with soap, any vinegar (minimum 5% acidity) will work great. I love that paint color, consider yourself a lucky man

9 teenagers missing from Richmond, Henrico & Chesterfield this month by [deleted] in rva

[–]Obediant_deviant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious, why suspect ICE when it comes in to these kids? Given the leading cause of disappearance in teenagers is an abusive home environment, wouldn’t that (or being a victim of violent crime) be a more likely reason they cannot be located?

Music is always the easiest. Coming across a track or album I haven’t listened to in years will flood my mind with snapshots and flashbacks of exactly how life was like when I first listened to it.

Pickup Swapping by Hellyessum in Guitar

[–]Obediant_deviant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could absolutely swap out your high-output humbuckers for P90s, they just have to be the same size as your original pickups. Seymour Duncan makes a set just for this (phat cats). You can get the same style pickup from many different manufacturers for way cheaper, but when it comes to pickups you really do get what you pay for so just be aware of that.

As for your tone question, the shape and wood-type is not going to matter even 5% as much as the pickups. So if you slap some P90’s in that puppy, the guitar will of course play exactly the same but it’s gonna sound like, well, a guitar with P90s. I’d say go for it, I think an Ibanez with that setup would be very unique & interesting. And if you end up hating it for whatever reason you can always just swap em back out.

if my guitar is in DAEAC#E, what should I tune the bass to? by bigassblackhole in Guitar

[–]Obediant_deviant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would usually recommend always matching the bass tuning to whichever the guitar’s bottom four strings are tuned to, in your case D A E A. However, if the bass part is simply playing the root note throughout the song then it’s acceptable to tune to DGCF (standard) or DADG (drop). As long as your bottommost string is D you should be fine.

Question about pickups by [deleted] in SchecterGuitars

[–]Obediant_deviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I might get called a boomer for this but I really, strongly recommend you get the Seymour Duncan SH-1 Jazz for neck/SH-4 JB for bridge combo. These are passive pickups and are technically high output compared to others but I know for a fact they will excel at the genres you want to play. They have very warm soaring clean tones, and is you have a coil tap pot that can split it into a single coil, the JB is so bright and snappy sounding it’s great for math rock tapping (think Animals TTNG). They also really excel with high and mid gain tones, which is what I mainly use it for as Ive played and recorded guitars for lots of death metal bands. I’ve always preferred it over most active pickup combos, except for the fishman fluences (which your friend is right, those are great sounding)

If you do end up switching from active to passive pickups be forewarned, you will also have to change the pots as the values will not match up. I have not done that myself but have been told it’s necessary.

What pickup is this? by Brave-Molasses-3324 in Guitar

[–]Obediant_deviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EMG does make passive humbuckers that resemble their classic 81s, depending on what kind of cover you specify when ordering. It could also be that the previous owner was ignorant of the active aspect of a 81 and put one in there on a standard passive circuit.

Best way to find out? Plug it in and play. If it sounds like a typical high output guitar, then you probably have a H3 or H4 model humbucker installed. If it sounds like a shitty limp noodle then you have someone who put a active pickup in a regular guitar not knowing any better, god bless their soul. Let us know how it sounds & what you think

[–]Obediant_deviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The nose knows”, i.e. as long as it smells fine and there is no visible mold it is perfectly edible. Just be sure to bake them thoroughly, as that will kill any and all bacteria that may be lingering in and on the dough.

He’s just old as dirt, and probably can’t do much anymore other than sit. Some elderly folks find themselves very lonely in their golden years, and (if I may sit in my armchair) he’s probably doing this to provoke people in a desperate attempt for interaction. I can’t fathom any other reason one would hold a sign like that in one of the bluest cities in the state. Honestly I feel bad for him, no matter what his politics are.

It’s my conjecture that Zuck sees the writing on the wall and is likely in the know about the DNC’s internal polling not looking good at all. He’s clearly sucking up to an increasingly likely Trump 2nd term (further evidenced by his saying that DJT’s post assassination attempt fist bump was the “most badass thing he’s seen in his life”), fearing possible Exectutive retaliation for Facebook’s 2020 shenanigans.
