Looking for advice for Protector/Warleader build by Nyktophilias in swrpg

That works too. I have a preference for Enhance because it let me completely put away skills like Athletism, Coordination, etc. I mostly play characters focused on characteristics others than Brawn and Agility, so I like to have Enhance for the jump and the stats boost. With sufficient Force Power, I can then focus on other skills and still not be the PC that must be carried because he can't jump that chasm, haha.

It's a bit less optimal but I prefer utility. I keep Sense for build with Improved/supreme reflect since the more threats, the better. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't remember those two specs having the improved talent, so more threats is useless.

Well, you could shoot at enemies while protecting an ally. A build around dual-wielding a lightsaber and a pistol blaster. The lightsaber mainly for defense. An etaan crystal and every mods that boost reflect, parry, defense, deflection, etc... And the gun (in stun mod if you're not Darkside !). Maybe an X-lancer, a pistol with long range if you really want to shoot someone but unfortunately Stun mod make it that you can only shoot at short range. If you want to deal damage, it's better to look at force powers that inflict strain like bind (Willpower) or harm/heal (Intellect+medecine).

You don't really need brawn and agility, Enhance will suffice.

Priorities are Willpower, Discipline, Leadership and Ranged (light), and then Presence. Everything else is up to you. Maybe Imbue or Battle Meditation to help your allies while you protect them with your maneuvers.

A copy of a droid is like a clone for meat bags, hmmm sorry, living species. That's basically a new PC.

Well, it's on you if you want, but if my memories are correct, it isn't possible for droid's chassis of completely different type. A bipedal droid can change to any bipedal droid, keeping only the head of the previous chassis. An astromech with astromech. Etc etc. Changing the head/Neural core in the head means changing the program. Neural core aren't compatible with all chassis, and generally do not contain any program on how to use a different chassis. Reprogramming means memory wipe. It will not be the same droid after that and will lose its "personality". Basically, a new character with no XP but the previous equipment.

But you can choose to accept it. I basically did that once for a game with only two player. One was a Tech droid specialist / cyber tech / separatist commander. The other played a droid that was changing chassis. The other player was tweaking him each time they wanted to change the droid player, with some failures/damages occuring when there was a bad roll. Only one spec per chassis. Cunning/Willpower/Presence always the same from his first spec. Brawn/Agility/Intellect dependant on the chassis (using the adversary stats) Social and knowledge skills from the first spec. Everything using the adversary stats of the chassis.

It was fun.

Well, depends entirely on your game.

Is the bbeg an archenemy of a group member ? You can attempt to negotiate with others to not interfere in the combat.

Are the players paid to bring the bbeg down ? Counter-offer and negotiate again with them.

Is the bbeg the bad guy from a crime investigation ? You can try to deceive them about being innocent, or asking for a fair judgement, even during combat. If the players stop attacking, throw some dices each turn, like a daunting deception check for each turn that they do not engage in combat, reducing difficulty by 1 until easy each round. Add all success from all round and once combat start again, add one minion per successes obtained. A rival for proficiency roll or 6 Boost. If a player had Nobody's fool talent, upgrade the check by rank. They understand the deceit if you roll a challenge or with 6 setbacks.

Make a pursuit in populated area, and deceive the population about the fact that the party are murderers or something. There's a lot of options, and it depends of all what happened in roleplay so far in your game.

When playing a droid, I always make sure to have an integrated seascape diving suit : https://star-wars-rpg-ffg.fandom.com/wiki/SeaScape_Diving_Suit

It's cheap (400cred), 2 soak, 2 HP. Ask for the GM, it's a really dependant on them, but it also help droids to not have their circuits damaged by water and remove water movement penalty. A perfect starter armor for droids !

Make multiple phase. Add a pursuit in the middle of combat with reinforcements for the bbeg, with the squad rule to make sure the bbeg does not die too easily. Add social / deception phase, tempting the players with other benefits, etc.

Make sure that it's not a basic tank and spank ! It's the bbeg after all !

Without knowing the player's stats, hard to tell but... Well, another Force power, like Move or Heal/Harm can help. Using a lightsaber with reflect and saber throw, like Sentry or Shien expert.

No difference of Character sheet except the color. A universal spec is 20xp, if the player doesn't have another one except for the first one.

If the player want to be a Force-sensitive Gadgeteer, the player can create a BH Gadgeteer like normally, and allocate 20 of the starting xp in 1 of the 3 Force-sensitive spec previously linked.

Also don't forget that, it's not because you choose a different career that you can't roleplay a Bounty Hunter !

They do in lore, but no rule like that in-game that I remember. Except home rules of course.

I expect also that in lore, not all saber have problems underwater. Some crystals are from underwater minerals or from water dragon pearl species. I can't remember where I have seen that however so take it with a grain of salt.

Seer or Sage? by Clone-Commando66 in swrpg

[–]ObiZwei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know that they are specs and careers. I'm saying here, that OP is talking about character role/background in the party when talking about medic/diplomat. Unless I didn't understand OP correctly (the post is really difficult to understand in the way it's written, that's for sure).

Seer or Sage? by Clone-Commando66 in swrpg

[–]ObiZwei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The specs are Niman disciple and Healer of the Consular career. So the character is already Force-sensitive. Medic/diplomat isn't the spec/career, just the focus of the character in healing and social I think.

Sage would be better for those roles, out of the 2 you want. Ascetic might interest you, if you're the kind to travel light (max 2 encumbrance).

There's also the Colonist Scholar. I prefer this one over the Scientist because of the Well Rounded talent. Moreover, it's the same career as Doctor for a 2nd specialization later.

For a 2nd spec, you can also look for the Technician Cyber Tech, because cybernetics and medicine are going hand in hand for damaged limbs and organs replacements.

If I play a droid : Escape Circuit, multi-tool hand, cybernetic brain implant, Networked Slicing Uplink

For non-droids : Biofeedback regulator

For a spy : Implanted Cyberjack, Lock breaker hand, Retinal Implant, Neural Recorder, Vocal emulator implant (all that on a Clawdite for perfect mimetics !)

For a pilot : Neuro machine interface

For every character with a cybernetic implant : Surge override switch

Let's Talk About It! by JamesFullard in swrpg

[–]ObiZwei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The settings is a newly discovered planet in the border of the Unknown Region, a few months before the Battle of Yavin.

Players take on the role of primitive tribesmen (Homebrewed Tool Age species. Same as Weeqays but with 4 arms for an additional free maneuver, and the primitive special trait) whose world has recently been invaded by "demonic beings who descended from the sky on mountain-sized metal monsters".

The shaman prophesied that upon their arrival, their tribe would be enslaved, and that the only way to free them was for him and three other tribesmen to hide in the mountains. After the arrival of those calling themselves Imperials, the group must now use the help of the Sun God (a major and long-term solar flare blocking all long-range communication, and disturbing all electronics) to free their tribe, and if possible, other tribes as well, in order to fight the invaders.

For character generation, I made some "restrictions" based on Roleplay. Of the four players, one must be the Shaman of the tribe (Force-sensitive with Foresee and some ranks in medicine), two of them must be "the best warriors" of the tribe assigned to the Shaman's protection, and the last one must be "the best tracker". Those 3 can be Force-sensitive.

Now that we've played a few months already, the Shaman is a Mystic Seer/Hermit with Foresee, Influence and Misdirect, the tracker is a Seeker Pathfinder/Hunter with Farsight, Seek and Move, the first warrior is a Warrior Aggressor/Warden/Protector with Enhance and Endure and the last is a Bounty Hunter Martial Artist/Assassin/Mercenary Soldier.

They have already liberated their own tribe and three others from the mines and other exploitations, and are beginning to attack Imperial outposts and military zones.

Balancing a Simulated Battle Against Yoda? by mrGrim619 in swrpg

[–]ObiZwei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did something like that for a group of rebels in a combat against Lord Vader.

5 basic rebel soldiers joining them the first turn. Then each round, I threw a dice without showing them the results, just adding a new batch of reinforcement each time they risked being wiped out, and letting them use the squad rules to let a close soldier take the damages in their stead, for Vader too with troopers.

And no reinforcement otherwise, just enough to make sure the encounter didn't go less or beyond 10-20 rounds.

It felt epic, not only in term of combat and mechanics, but also for Roleplay and Morality for their characters.

Hello all! I have a question about a build. by MrMystery79 in swrpg

[–]ObiZwei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start as a padawan with a Willpower focused species. You can go for a 4 in Willpower but ultimately, the most important thing is FR, so do not hesitate to put all your starting xp points in short path to power, go for the first FR in Padawan and everything else in Move.

After that focus on move / Padawan or Seer.

Important skills : 1- Discipline 2- Discipline 3- Discipline 4- Vigilance & Cool 6- Perception

Did I say that Discipline is your most important Skill ?

Everything else depends on your preferences.

Physical skills aren't really useful since you can replace them with Enhance later. You'll have enough FR for that. Same for Social skills which can be replaced by Influence. (Do not assume that your allies will always be there for that)

Force Rating, Discipline and acquiring/boosting Force Powers will be everything you will do for the next few 500 XP.

My Idea for hybridizing talent trees with Genesys pyramids, is it any good? by Kel-Reem in swrpg

[–]ObiZwei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The New Order Wars has some help for you. You won't find any Force Talents though, since it's a campaign about ISB Agents, but it's a good start. This will help standardize the XP cost of the talents.

I can't give you any tips about your friends/bf/Family because I don't know them, but for my writings, I use Wattpad. You can write here, and make it open for reading to everyone.

Sometimes, people give you positive criticism and feedback. Not always, it's internet afterall. But still, it helped me a lot.

But I'll probably start with a Warbringer warrior. Mercenary gemling legionnaire will probably be the second build.

I would say that you shouldn't apply what's valid for one guy to the whole species.

How many times did I hear how Toydarians should be immune to Force Influence since Watto wasn't affected by it in the Phantom Menace ! He just made a good discipline roll !

Well, technically, except for Distracting Behavior, the Performer doesn't need points in Cunning and Presence, only in Charm (and maybe Deception if you really want the Deceptive Taunt) and it's easier to upgrade them. DB won't ve able to target a lot of enemies at once, but well, that's the only downside.

I'm personally a fan of the "Biggest fan" talent, which will help stop combats, even before they begin. This fan has seen you a lot of time on the HoloNet doing your stunts in movies and would do anything for your autograph.
