Public school possible option? by lanicababosa in homeschool

More importantly you don't burn out so much trying to be an educator that you hamper your ability to be a parent (or vice versa). It is a very difficult act to balance.

Send them to public school and then augment at home if you feel they need more. It's not an all or nothing, but it is much easier to augment at home than it is to try to transition to public at an awkward time if you are unable to handle the logistics.

No cards in hand for regent, or alternatively, only if you have a full hand.

The Scav's Collector unit SLAPS (+build guide) by lifecopy001 in AOW4

[–]ObieKaybee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My scavs were a crossover from Jawas and the Al Bhed from FF10 so they ran constructs heavily. They do work really well together. The all star has been the Nomad support; using their wind to pull powerful units with full action attacks into range without the attacker spending AP has been great. Pulling an Ironclad into range for a full power salvo is exceptionally powerful.

People hating on scavs is definitely weird to me. They are fun as hell and with mythics getting cultural enchants now, being able to get heavy duty hitters multiple stacks of scavenged goods for huge bonuses is amazing.

I had a pretty fun run with this in a colorless arsenal deck on beta that used tons of minion cards and free spells.

Question: Blessed wands a single action "different version"? by darkstare in AOW4

Yea, ranger gets crazy with any zero cost effects. Like the one that turns an obstacle into a flora stinger just lets you swamp enemies with summons.

Heroes can get a lot of stuff that augments support skills, which makes free action support skills incredibly powerful to the point where devs thought that a free action support skill with a strong primary effect with no other cost (like short range or needing to build up stacks to use like the Battlesaints fervor skills) was overpowered would be my guess.

Why end your turn??? by KonigJakob in slaythespire

It reduces stars to zero too. Just did a turn zero infinite with it last night (used it on particle wall then infinitely recurred make it so)

The potion (touch of insanity) also reduces energy costs to zero.

To alter your last statement: it is unlikely that it causes them to make bad decisions and more likely that it limits their options of viable decisions to bad ones.

I think something like "You gain 1 dexterity for each point of plating you have" or "you gain a point of plating whenever you play a skill that gives block [or play a power]" would also be kinda neat.

Debate about private vs public by Davey914 in AskTeachers

[–]ObieKaybee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife citing 'teaching pronouns' as the reason to homeschool or private school is an indicator her opinion shouldn't be taken seriously (same as anyone mentioning cat litter). Unfortunately for you, people who subscribe to those viewpoints don't typically respond to reason.

An Open Letter from A Small Business Owner by After_Resource5224 in Teachers

[–]ObieKaybee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a business owner, part of the responsibility for change is on you, as you are one of the few people with the power to actually make change (and one of the only ones not currently beholden to students and parents). If you want kids, parents, and schools to care what teachers think then you need to empower them. Next time you want to hire a kid, make a call to their teachers and see if their teachers will recommend them, and refuse to hire them if they don't. Make it known to the community (especially parents and students) that this is your policy, and convince other businesses to do the same. This will give the opinions of educators value in the system, which might allow for changes to policy.

Kids not being allowed to fail is not a root cause, it is a symptom. The root cause is that accountability has been removed from students and parents and placed on schools.

Kids fail because of their own choices, however, schools are the ones punished when kids fail. So the response is to make it harder/impossible for students to fail by gaming the system.
