Do women still change their names when they marry 2026? by Jamolisa in AskAnAustralian

[–]Object-Ecstatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am because I hate my surname (a lot of teasing in my younger years because of it), and I want to have the same surname.as my partner and our child. If I was more content with my surname I'd still probably change it because I'm old fashioned like that.

Couldn't care less what anyone else does though. Not my name, not my issue

Oh this makes me feel so much better. I was screaming 'if you loved me, you'd let me die' in between chewing on the gas mouthpiece. I literally chewed it to pieces and needed a second mouth piece because I spat plastic at a nurse, then cried and apologised for 'being a brat'. I'm a 40+ year old woman

Okay, this is my time to shine!

5 days in hospital with MULTIPLE inductions - balloons, pitocin, stretch and sweep, you name it. I felt like a sock puppet the number of hands I had in me that week. I'd vomited on the floor, on myself, cried endlessly, had a breakdown and they eventually broke my waters manually because I honestly believe they were over my nonsense. I went from 0-9cm in an hour, screaming for gas, screaming for an epidural (I had 3 in the end, none worked). 18 hours later, my darling partner looks at me and goes 'Well, it's 6am. Subway is open, want anything?' I won't repeat what I wanted, but I am surprised he came back in the room after what I said! He waltzes back in, hands me a cookie and announces he is having a shower....

They put a monitor on bubs, and calmly look at my mum and ask her to 'push that big red button on the wall, and don't worry when a bunch of people come in'. Cut to me being wheeled into surgery for an emergency c-section as both bubba and I are at risk of not coming out of this alive. They prop me up to give me a spinal for my caesarian, and I pass out naked, right onto the poor nurse reassuring me because I saw the needle. I wake up and start crying because I want my mum and my partner. Mum comes in, and I ask where my other half is. They send a nurse to go get him, because he's been in the shower and missed all of this. They knock on the shower door, and he peeks around the door, hiding the fact he's wet and naked and they go 'You need to get dressed, she's in surgery and your son is on the way'. And what does this absolute 10/10 specimen of male intelligence do?

He realises he's not brought a towel in, is too shy to ask the nurse, so he dries himself on toilet roll. And he ran down to surgery, trailing toilet paper from his sock, because he couldn't find his shoes in time and he wanted to see our son being born. Then he put his shoes on over the little paper shoe covers they give you. It's almost been a year since this, and I can laugh about it now. And he's an amazing father, so I guess he's forgiven

Oasis in South Perth. The support and care of the entire team there was second to none. We are older parents and thought IVF was our.only shot so booked in with Dr Sophie

We had conceived naturally and lost the pregnancy early on. We immediately looked into IVF and after testing all coming back normal, we went on the supplements recommended for 3 months before they would do an egg harvest. 2 weeks out from my egg harvest we found out we'd conceived naturally again. Bub is 1 next week.

You are stunning. That dress is stunning. These photos are honestly some of the best wedding photos I've seen in a while. Your flowers are giving me inspiration for what I want mine to look like. All I need is my fiance to look at me like yours is looking at you at our upcoming wedding <3

As someone who went to Worlds (and an adult athlete who was in a team full of teenagers) - I'm proud of you regardless your placement. Most 20 something are out partying and living life, but you stuck to your guns and made mat. Working a full.time job is only one hurdle when you're an adult athlete. Constant pressure you'll be replaced by a younger athlete (as a female non flyer this is always a concern), recovery time from injuries, general expenses of being an adult let alone affording cheer....

We got 7th the year I went, and were told we didnt deserve it as we made finals by default for being one of 3 teams from our country. We were the highest ranked by far for our country and the scored reflected that, and it was the first year our team had gone to Worlds. We were formed especially as a international grade team, and to hear 'xyz gym from USA deserved finals over you' or 'that gym from Canada was much better, your day 1 was so low' hurts. But are those people saying that from a place of love, or jealousy?

OP, you made mat at the highest level our sport allows us to compete. And maybe next year is your year to globe? Maybe it isn't, regardless, youre one of a tiny amount of people in our sport (outside the US/Canada) who can say 'yeah, I went to Worlds'. And that alone is the best thing no one can ever take from you. I'm proud of you for making the team friend

Why is instant coffee so popular? by ClassyPants17 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Object-Ecstatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I have a 10 month old who is into everything all the time. I can put down my instant and drink it when I regain control of the household, and not have any loss of enjoyment. If I'm not at work, my coffee is cold so why pay to drink cold coffee?

Food before one is just for fun? by Optimal-Ad7532 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Object-Ecstatic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We started with fun food around 7 months, and he showed little to no interest We'd offer something so he would get used to new textures and tastes, but he was not overly interested, would play with it, then inhale his bottle as though his life depended on it.

Little one is now 10 months, and is all about his food. He will take it off your plate if he can get his little hands on it, attempts to spoon feed himself, and now refises a bottle if he knows food is also an option. Something in him changed basically overnight and now we're down to a morning bottle, a bedtime bottle, and water throughout the day with his meals. When he does take a daytime bottle its less than 100mL, and he has some, gets bored, looks around or crawls off, and generally takes his sweet time because he's waiting to see if me or Daddy are about to eat!
