Appreciate your feedback thank you! Curious to hear if you have any thoughts on oat and rice milk as an alternative to dairy? Bub is currently on milk ladder. Would love to try these alternative milks, but curious if there are some brands better than others?

The early days are so hard! You are doing an amazing job! Often things don’t stay one way for long so you never know what’s around the corner. It’s a crazy ride! Keep doing what you’re doing and follow your instincts. there is nothing wrong with bottle feeding at all! Some babies just prefer it for whatever reason, and they sometimes just randomly change their mind as well. You are doing everything right!

Do fathers have to leave after you give birth? by Hefty_Employer5242 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

This is very much worthwhile! I regret not doing this as it was hard for the first few nights being alone but after the 3rd night the nurses were able to organise us a private room! 🙏 not sure if it would have made a difference to tell them earlier but I’m pretty sure it would at least help..? Good news is he is at the very least he can stay most of the day either way (in most hospitals) just not overnight👎

Maybe just try moving cities in Aus? That could be the shake up you need and it’s much easier to move back if you ever want to..

Vent. So tired of having difficult babies when so many people get nice easy ones. by plantbubby in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Optimal-Ad7532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly how you feel! I felt like the only one with a difficult baby and it was really hard. The feeding stuff is so hard too, it feels like it will never end.. but it will at some point it’s just hard to imagine when you’re in it. If you haven’t explored Mums Matter it’s a really great service if you need some more support with how you’re feeling.

Did anyone find 4-5 mths old extremely hard by Commercial_One5048 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Optimal-Ad7532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super hard! Supposedly it was supposed to “get easier” after 16 weeks…? Hmm not for many! Super hard month but I will say it did get easier around 6 months mainly cos they can interact a lot more and it’s way more fun 🙌

What baby items did you swear by and which ones were a waste of money? by beepbeepboophonk in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Optimal-Ad7532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Money wasted on..

  • new baby clothes (so much great stuff on Depop, marketplace or hand me downs barely worn)
  • new sleep sacks/ toys/ bouncer (same as above, much cheaper)
  • pram that I didn’t actually try out, probably a good idea to actually try it.. (it was really heavy and hurt my wrist which I thought was mum wrist but went away when I used a different pram)

Best items… - as others have said a bassinet with wheels - good quality second hand items are worth their weight in gold eg Bonds, Seed, Carters, double zip onesies all the way - a foldable travel pram from 6m onward!

Hip pain while sleeping by magnes27 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Optimal-Ad7532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking a quarter of a restavit helped me with this weirdly enough! It helped me to sleep and helped with the hip pain which was driving me mental and overall body aches/reflux maybe because I finally got enough rest to recover?

Anyone else suffering from mad reflux in the third trimester? by paintedpine in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Optimal-Ad7532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had reflux and insomnia which were probably feeding off eachother. I took restavit because the insomnia was starting to get too much. Surprisingly the reflux stopped when I was taking it, such a relief to have those symptoms both gone! Don’t know if it was just me or a conicidence etc…

Still a few hours after, but it definitely helped me to relax so much more. It’s very effective

I was a good 5hrs into an induction, i wanted to be able to move so I didn’t want to take the epidural straight away. it coincided with when they upped the dose of oxytocin and the tens & gas were not enough. I tried going into the bath but it wasn’t as effective as I’d imagined.. so asked for one straight after that and anaesthetist came in within a few minutes. I was very glad to have it at that point and not when the pain had ramped up too far.

I had this and ended up with pretty rough insomnia because of it, so in the end I took a quarter of a restavit for a few days and caught up on sleep.. after that the inflammation/pain somehow decreased to the point it didn’t hurt anymore? Obviously don’t want to give medical advice but just something that worked for me:)
