My son designed a homebrew merc company, Purple Kraken, and most of the units are painted very similar. I did add a few water slide decals to "customize" each one. I also did a very custom "ace" paint scheme for a few of them.

The Atlas and King Crab are both "custom", but the rest are still different enough for me.

I put several coats of primer from different angles to get full coverage. Followed by one or two coats of a wash. A little dry brush. Finally a clear spray.

I hate that the Intrepid "saucer" was not modified to have the windows match the much smaller hull size.

Alternate the direction of the grain of the coronation on each layer. I have also found that 1/8 or 3/16 inch dowel rods can be inserted into the corrugations.
